Jean had been alone for all of her life. Alone, or running. She was 7,091 soon, and had seen the end of many great dynasties, and made lots of friends along the way. She was a vampire who helped the world, only preying on those who wished badly for mankind.
The one friend who and always been there for her was the Doctor. She never asked questions about him, and in turn got all the answers she could have ever dreamed of. She knew more of what had happened and would happen than most of the human race put together. It was a cruel knowledge though, one that could save lives, or destroy them. She could get rid of possible threats, but know that nothing could change the future, it being the wibbly wobbly, timey wimey thing that it was.
The Doctor had just got back from regenerating, and all his memories had gone, except one. An addresse in London and the name Jean. After every regeneration he always goes back there to help him remember the life he had. She never understood the reason he returned.
"Evening, Doctor,"Jean said,"It is the 31st of December 2011 at 11:00 pm and you are on your 15th regeneration." It had become a tradition for them to start their conversations with Jean telling him the date and which regeneration he was on. "Sadly you won't get any time to rest as we are currently facing an apocalypse.""That's barmy," said the Doctor," The daleks shouldn't be attacking for another year."He never considered what Jean did, that something the humans believed in had helped the dalecs choose a time in which to attack.
"No. No, the Mayan prophecy thing was just laziness because they got bored of writing a calendar." The doctor shook his head and looked at the ground dejectedly. Jean stared at him, getting used to his new face that would change far too soon.
"So you are the Doctor, you are from Gallifrey and this year you are around 18,673 years old. You just regenerated and you are starting to remember everything." Jean knew what he would ask next.
"But who are you? I must know you quite well to have only remembered your name and address."
"I am a vampire." The doctor pulled his sonic screwdriver out and pointed it at the woman."But there is no need for that, I help you keep history on course." The doctor realised something. The Mayan prophecy of 2012 was time locked, so he did not know what happened. "We have to go!" He exclaimed.
The daleks had wished him a merry Christmas before he left; they knew where he would go, and what year. They were planning something. They stepped outside the grand house, closing the door and glancing around them for any changes. The only noticeable one was the sky. It was golden, like they were inside a ball of metal. The clock struck midnight and the bells tolled, but there were no fireworks. All of the humans out on the streets had disappeared and were replaced with dalecs. They turned around, looming over them and pointing their guns. "Doctor," Jean said,"Why are they pointing whisks at us?"
"Jean, I am giving you some vital information here, run. They won't chase you." Jean took off in the opposite direction to the Doctor, and he was right. They did not move, just stayed staring at him.
It was when she got to her house that she realised she had broken her promise. She had left him alone. She sunk to the ground and put her head in her hands. Then she went upstairs into the part of her house she lovingly called the armoury, and collected her knives. The Doctor knew what she would face at some point, and wanted her to be able to protect herself. She grabbed the knives and jumped out of the window and onto the street outside of it.
Jean crept down the shadows and listened to the echoing silence that was never usually there in London, a busy town filled with noisy people, even in the night. She tiptoed her way behind a dalec, sinking her fangs into the metal by its neck, and watched it short circuit. It seemed like they were robots, but she knew from the stories the Doctor told that there was some form of life inside all of them.
A line of dalecs was going down the centre of the road, and every road in the world, all heading towards Buckingham Palace.
She followed the dalecs from the rooftops, where they could not see, hiding in the shadows and arriving at the palace unseen. She dropped to the floor in a patch of shade she thought they wouldn't be able to see her in, but the noise her feet made when they hit the ground was unbearable. There was a loud thump, contradicting the fact that vampires were meant to be soundless, and attracting six dalecs to her position. They surrounded her and if she had learn one thing in her whole life, it was when she was unable to escape. This was one of those times.
Furthermore, if she went with them they would probably take her to the Doctor. One dalec put electric handcuffs on her, and poked her in the back with its gun to make her move through the driveway and into the palace itself. She was taken through countless pristine red and gold rooms that were so bright it hurt her extremely sensitive eyes and into the dining room.
There was a glass table with a gold boarder and extremely uncomfortable looking chairs around the edges. A grand chandelier hung above their heads and Jean couldn't help but wonder how long it took to clean. At the head of the table sat a dalec and a human. The dalek was different from the others, a large tank of liquid on top of it and a brain like creature inside. The human was, at a second glance, actually the Doctor, but he was chained to an ornate chair and had a single tear rolling down his face.
"Hello Jean," said the dalek," I am Davros, the creator of the dalek empire, and now the ruler of the planet Earth! Now Doctor, you should know that the dalecs and I hold you accountable for our suffering, and so we shall be accountable for yours. But you didn't kill us, no.... YOU KILLED OUR FAMILY, DESTROYED IED OUR HOMES, so we shall destroy the one person you care for most."
"We will give you a choice, we take your dear Jean, or we have the Earth!" Davros finished his rant and turned to the Doctor. The Doctor was looking at his hands, which were now free of the cuffs. "If you ever learned one thing, it should have been not to take what's mine. Either that, or not to leave me with my sonic." With that, the Doctor leaped up, grabbed his sonic screwdriver out of his pocket and pointed it at Davros. " I remembered a feature I wanted for my screwdriver, a reverse teleport. I hope the new sonic has it." Davros took one look at the sonic and shot Jean with a beam of light.
"Jean!" The Doctor yelled as he reversed the teleportation and all the humans returned to their original places. He rushed over to her side with anguish on his face. She was still breathing and her pulse was steady. He lifted her up and into the TARDIS before the royal family found them there. As they travelled back to her house, her eyelids began to flutter. Her eyes opened with a jolt. The Doctor said,"Good morning, it is the 1st of January 2012 at 3am and I am the Doctor. "
She sat up fully, blinked a couple of times and seemed to struggle with her memories and did something she had never done before."Doctor who?"she said.
She didn't remember.
