It is morning in New York City. A girl, (Peter), is putting a cigarette out. Peter sniffles, wiping her eyes with the cigarette in hand. Her phone rings. She picks it up.
Peter:
Mom?
She begins a casual conversation with her mom and a girl from background kisses Peter's cheek quickly and begins kissing her on her neck. Peter shrugs her off.
Girl #1:
Hi.
Peter:
(annoyed)
Uh, yeah, Mom, that's just a friend.
Girl #2:
(sits up from the bed, nudity concealed by sheets)
So are you gonna buy breakfast?
Peter:
(looks back at the girl but ignores her)
What? Yeah, mom, that's- that's just Jenna... yeah, she stood the night.
Girl #1:
Who's Jenna?
Peter:
Mom, I'm just gonna call you later, okay? We're going out for brunch. Yeah, yeah I'll call you tonight, I guess. Love you. Bye.
Peter sighs, and looks back at the girls who are close together, looking at Jenna, amused.
Girl #2:
You forgot about us, haven't you?
Girl #1 laughs.
SCENE 1
Peter has got the girls out of the apartment and into the hall.
Girl #1:
Wait! What about brunch?
Peter:
Aw, jeez, sorry! Another time?
Girl #2:
Am I gonna see you again?
Peter:
Uh...
Girl #1:
What about me?
Peter:
Um, I'm sorry. I have a meeting soon. It was great - last night. Really. But I gotta go.
We see Girl #2 leave angrily as Peter begins to close the door.
Girl #2:
(door almost closing)
Peter, call me, okay?
Peter closes the door, and rolls her eyes, leaning against the door.
Peter:
Fuck hookups.
She walks from the frame.
SCENE 3
Peter and her friend Emma are sitting at an outside restaurant.
Peter:
Wait - she told you what?
Emma:
She said: 'Emma, do you take us seriously?'
Peter:
And you said...
Emma:
I said of course.
Peter:
