I decided not to show up at college for the rest of the week. It was Sunday evening, my face had pretty much returned to normal besides the yellowish bruising that still stained my skin, although mostly coverable with a little makeup. Matty had gone fishing with the boys, and I'd been left to prepare a Sunday dinner for when he returned.
I sat on the sofa, the television on in the background and my laptop on my knee.
