"You promise that we'll be together?" the blue haired male asked the red head in front of him. The other smirked and flashed a smirk, grabbing hold of the other's hand and kissing it.
Right now, the blue haired male was on the ground, a small pool of blood forming underneath him. The red head had some cuts and scratches on his cheeks and arm, his attire slashed in a few places. The area around them was slowly disappearing, turning into particles and blowing away in the wind. "Hey, Marth..." the red one said, looking up to the dark sky that flashed purple, pink, and blue. Marth looked up into the eyes of the other.
"Yeah, Roy?"
"Do you think...we'll make it to the next life like everyone else?" Marth blinked. He never thought of that. Right now, it was the final days of Melee. The Master was erasing everything and everyone. Half of the other Trophies were already gone and, maybe, in the next life. Marth smiled weakly, coughing slightly. "I'm pretty sure we'll make it. We were strong so we'll be together again~" "Are you sure about that, Marth?" Roy's small smile dropped into a frown. "We didn't finish our battle so I highly doubt that we'll make it into the next world-" "Don't say that!" Roy blinked, his eyes widening slightly as he looked to Marth. "We will make it into the next life! We will be together again!" Roy's smile returned to his face.
This is what he liked about Marth. Marth coughed up a little blood and gripped tighter on Roy's hand. "Don't ever say we won't make it...cause we will~" Roy nodded and stood up, placing Marth's hand down. He reached to his side and grabbed his sword off of the ground. It was coated in a blood. Roy looked at the sword and traced his finger across it. "Amazing how the End had to happen during our battle..."
"Hey, Marth!"
Said boy turned around to see his friend, and rival, Roy come running up to him. He smiled warmly. "Hello, Roy," he said, nodding at him. "What brings you to the Fountain of Dreams?" Roy grinned widely, pointing his
sword, at Marth. "I've waited too long for this! You know exactly why I'm here!" His grin dropped and his facial expression turned serious. "I sat back and watched you battle everyone, except for me! It is time to show you
my skills!" Marth blinked and placed his hand on the hilt of his sword, but he didn't draw it. "Roy, again?" he said, cocking a brow at the other. "I just got through with a battle with Samus. I'm too tired to battle right now-"
"That's not fair!" Marth blinked. Roy frowned and bit his lip slightly. "You never battled me ONCE in our days of Melee! Ever since I got here, you just became friendly with me and then we never engaged in battle! We
fought side-by-side, but never against!" "Why do you want to fight me so-" "To prove myself to you! Remember when we first became friends and you told me that the only we can earn the title of 'best' is if I show, and
prove to you, that I can defeat you in battle! Are you scared of your own defeat!?" Marth's eyes widened and he turned his head. Roy blinked and his hand lowered slightly. "That's it. You...you're scared to lose your title.
You're a part of the Melee Fighters, the champions of Melee" The boy smirked. "You're the last in their rank though...so if you were to lose to me, you would be done! That's why you won't battle me!" "Roy...that's not it-"
"What do you mean? What other reason is there!?" Marth was about to say something, but he shut his mouth. What was his reason? He sighed and slowly drew his sword from his sheath. "You are my friend, Roy. My skills are far beyond yours. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I hurt you...that is one reason as to why I wouldn't fight." Roy blinked. "But, since you are constantly asking for a fight, it is a fight you shall get~" Marth smirked at his friend and raised his sword.
"Do you accept the challenge?" Roy blinked. He was finally going to have his battle with Marth. After all these years, it was finally going to happen. The boy raised his sword just as his friend did, a wide smile spreading on his face.
"Hell yeah!"
Lightning flashed in the background. Marth blinked. "Lightning? But...we're at the Fountain of Dreams...? There shouldn't be any-" "Don't get distracted!" Marth blinked and looked to Roy, watching as the other rushed up to him and slashed at him with the sword. Marth quickly countered the attack and slashed back at Roy, managing a hit on the boy. Roy grunted as he was hit. Marth was strong for his graceful appearance, but he wasn't going to let the other beat him. He ran back at Marth and the two continued to clash swords. As they did so, the lightning seemed to grow closer to the point where it was right above their heads. Marth looked up, which was his mistake.
Roy managed to stab into the side of his stomach. Marth grunted and grabbed his side, wincing as he did so. "Come on, Marth!" Roy called out, kicking the other to the ground. "Stop getting distracted! Isn't that what your master told you!" Marth grunted as Roy kicked him in the stomach. Although he was supposed to be one of the slower characters...he was pretty quick on his feet. Roy kept attacking, not taking a second to hesitate.
Marth brought up his sword to counter Roy's attack, but his sword got knocked from his hand. He frowned and watched as Roy pointed the sword at his neck, the tip barely touching it. Marth smirked. "Aren't you going to finish me?" he said looking up into Roy's burning blue eyes. Roy smiled and took out a Heart, one of the healing items that are usually found throughout Melee. Marth blinked as Roy placed it down. "Why are you-"
"You were distracted, so it wasn't a real battle. Besides, I know you and Falchion can provide a better fight~" Marth blinked and looked over to Falchion. His sword was the main reason he was where he is in the Melee world.
He smiled and accepted the Heart, the sparkles flowing over his wounds as he grasped it. Marth's strength began to flow back to him. He reached over and grabbed Falchion, raising him up to the skies before bringing him it back down. "Thank you, Roy. Now, let me return you with the battle you forever desired!" "Finally!" The two rushed at each other, but as they did so, the ground began to shake causing them to plant their swords into the ground to regain balance.
"What's happening?!" Roy called out as the quake grew more violent. The two watched as the water from the Fountain began to evaporate into the sky. The sky began to flash blue and pink. "Mewtwo was right..." Marth
mumbled as he looked to the skies. "The End of Melee was going to occur faster than we knew it-" "Don't let that stop us!" Marth blinked and looked back to Roy, who was pulling his sword out of the ground. "Let's have our battle on the last day! This will prove how we will be in the next world!" "Roy..." A small smile formed on his face. He nodded. "So be it, Roy." he said, pointing Falchion towards the other. "Let's give Master the fight he was waiting for!~"
Marth smiled as Roy recalled the memory of their fight. The sudden lightning that flashed caught their attention. The remains of Fountain of Dreams slowly began to dissipate. "Here it comes, buddy~" Roy said as he knelt down next to Marth. "We're going to the new world..." Marth smiled as he felt all power escape his body. The two looked down to see his body begin to slowly disappear as well. Roy smiled as he watched his friend begin to disappear, blushing slightly as Marth grabbed his hand. His friend's chest was now transparent as his disappearance began to occur faster. Roy grew a worried look on his face and looked down to himself quickly. He was still solid.
"W-what?" Marth blinked as he saw his friend begin to panic slightly. "I'm not...disappearing..." Marth's eyes widened slightly, his hand becoming transparent and slipping through Roy's hand. "Roy...you must have...upset...Master-" "Impossible! How could I have done that!?" Marth's eyes became distant and he laid his head back. "Marth!" Roy grabbing his friend's head and hugged it to his chest, hot tears beginning to fall
from his eyes. "You can't leave me! I'm suppose to go with you! We were supposed to be together!!" "Roy...I...I have to go..." "No! You have to stay with me!"
Fountain of Dreams eventually turned into nothing but darkness. Marth slowly disappeared from Roy's side, the sparkles of his Trophy soul flowing into the sky. "No!" Roy called out as he reached his hand up to try and
reach for his friend. He looked around. The other Trophy souls were going up into the void that had opened up in the sky. Roy growled and slammed his fist down. "Why!? Why am I not going! Why am I not with Marth!?"
"Haven't you realized it yet..."
Roy blinked and turned around. Mewtwo walked up to him. "Mewtwo...you didn't pass on either?" The other shook his head. "Why...Why?!" "Before you came to Melee...I wasn't the way I was now. I was a rather dark
character and it had upset the Master deeply. This is my punishment...our punishment..." Roy's eyes widened and he began to shake his head before looking to the sky. The void was beginning to close. He would never see
his friend again. "No!" he yelled, performing double jumping in the air before performing blazer. Only inches away from the void, lightning leaped out of the void and struck the boy back down to the ground. Roy could not
move a muscle.
He growled, struggling to get up. Mewtwo looked down to the boy, shaking his head and walking away. "Just deal with it...you'll never see your friend again."
Roy blinked, a tear streaming down the side of his face. He laid his head back down on the ground, the tears beginning to flow more. Slowly, they began to turn blood red. "No...I'm going to see him again..."
"I will make sure of it. I promised him that I would see him in the next life...and I will..." A small smile formed on Roy's face. "I'm going to see you again...Marth..."
