Mark sat on the porch. It had been a couple of years since his parents had died. He was an

only child. He was on the orphanage swing. He watched the sun set. He remembered what

the last thing he and his mother and father had done. Creek. Creek. Creek. He felt suddenly

sad. He missed them very much. He remembered the night before the accident, how they

were so happy. He knew that it did no good to dwell on how the accident

happened... but he... he had a feeling in his gut. He felt that he knew, somehow, that his

parents were out there somewhere. Then, a sudden sound came from the forest.

Rustle.Rustle.Rustle. Mark's head jerked through instinct. He tried to look for a sign of what

just made that rustle. He looked at where the sound came from. He got up from where he

sat. He approached the forest. He saw a glimpse of a person. He ran towards that person.

"It must be that stupid boy Jack!" Thought Mark. He peeked through the trees.

Rustle.Rustle.Rustle. "Jack! Get out of there right now! You know what happens if you go

into the woods alone!" Yelled Mark at once. He got closer. He peered at the bush...

Mark was very surprised to see what was there. He looked at the bush for a moment. He

couldn't believe it... it was a little puppy. He took the puppy. The puppy looked at him. Mark

never saw more sad eyes. He smiled. "I'm going to call you..." He realized that the head of

the orphanage would hate having a pup inside the place... yet... Mark felt that... it was

destiny for him to be with this pup.
