I was staring at the ceiling trying to retrace my steps from last night. I had about five hundred messages from Laney. Oh my god my head was pounding. I looked down at my phone to see the damage.
OML!!! Where are you?!?
I lost you didn't I?
Your mom is gonna kill me.
How do I explain this?
ALASKA!!!
Do you realize the position I'm in?
WiCH!!
Just so you know when you wake up, I found you.
Have a nice morning and think about the consequences of your actions. -Laney's mom
Ok, I was beyond dead. If Mrs. T knew then my mom did too. I was dead. I looked through my texts once more trying to find out what had happened. I found the texts from Laney. Now I found texts from Lauren and Jake saying I was a "wicked partier". Then I found one more thread...from Ben. A.K.A. Ex with a complex. Dear god what could I have done to get him to text me.
Alaska: Hey, what's up?
Alaska: The sky. Ha!
Alaska: I am the most hilarious penguin.
I cringed slightly and facepalmed.
Ben: Hey. Haven't heard from you in a while.
Ben: Your a what?
Alaska: *You're
Alaska: *MOm
Alaska: I win dis universe. You are a slave to me.
Alaska: Bow peasant! BoW!
Ben: Where are you rn?
Alaska: Having funnnn
Ben: On a scale of 1 to 10 how drunk are you?
Alaska: Scale! HA! That is such a funny word. Scale.
Ben: Got it. You're at Rufus's house party?
Alaska: Yes. You shld come. Its funnnnnn!
Ben: I'm coming to pick you up. I'll be there in 5.
Ben: Your probably up by now. Just wanted to let you know I took you home last night and you were fine. Nothing THAT bad happened. Besides a picture that might be circling. Scratch that. It's a video.
I started typing with out even realizing.
Alaska: You're
Ben: Did you not read the last part? My grammar isn't you're biggest problem.
Alaska: Your
Ben: Whatever. Here's a link to the video.
And there it was. A link to my ultimate shame. I brushed back my dirty ashy blonde hair with my hand. I looked down, my blue eyes focusing, and started the video. It was.... for lack of a better word... terrible.
The video starts off in a back yard. I assumed it was Rufus's. The first thing I noticed was a shovel to the side of a 5 foot hole. That hole which I was in. My head was lulled back and my eyes were half open. Then the worst part happened. I started talking.
"Rufus!!! You spiky the punch bowell dirdnt you?" I slurred.
"Answer me you fluffy dragon!"
Someone in the background, I'm assuming whoever was recording, started laughing. I then attempted to crawl out of the hole. Bad decision.
"Call life alert!! I have fallen and I can't get up."
"Come on Alaska, let's go." Ben said picking me up off of the ground.
The camera shut off and I just sat there in my bed, regretting all my life decisions. Ding.
Ben: So you watched it?
Alaska: Yeah...
Ben: Yeah...
I didn't mean to drink that night. I drank from a designated punch bowl that wasn't supposed to have alcohol in it. So did Laney. Turns out someone wanted to spike the "Freshman bowl" as a prank. That didn't turn out so well in my favor.
I got up from my bed and looked around the room scrambling to get some clothes. It was around 1:00 pm and I had things to do. I ran to go and get dressed. I threw on what ever was near and bolted down the stairs and saw my mother standing in front of them.
"I know what you did."
"I didn't mean to. My drink was spiked and so was Laney's. You know she wouldn't drink." I said trying to avert my eyes from the sunlight coming in through the window.
"You know what? I think the hangover will be lesson enough." She then turned swiftly away.
Everyone said my mom was awesome because of her laid-back attitude and I agreed. But the only reason she was like that was because she trusted me. I honestly though it would go worse but I guess there is always room for a surprise.
I began walking to go to meet Laney and make sure she hadn't been killed by her mother. Well father. It's hard to explain. I began picking up my pace when I heard a ping from my phone. I was walking faster and then looked down. There was a loud noise from in front of me and I jumped back.
I had almost been hit my a truck. I crossed, looking both ways, and looked down. It was a text from Ben.
Ben: Hey can you meet me by the creek later. I want to talk.
