And Now I Sleep

And now I sleep.

I wake,
Down by the river,
Down by the bay,
Over the stones,
And up into a tree.

And now I sleep.

I wake,
Pass through the wood,
Pass through the foliage
Down the damp hill,
And into the valley.

And now I sleep.

I wake,
Up cold and soaking wet,
Up the smoke of the fire,
Goes into the sky,
And I plunge into the lake.

And now I sleep.

I wake,
Choking on water,
To the bottom I reach,
The third realm of existence,
And now I preach:

"And I no longer sleep."
