Standing in the crowded elevator, Jimin waits for the door to open on Jungkook's floor. Taehyung has asked Jimin earlier that morning to go visit Jungkook in his stead, saying he has some important business (no hobi pun intended) to take care of. Before leaving the house, Jimin makes sure to pack some homemade side dishes and food (Taehyung mentioned that Jungkook dislikes hospital food). Shuffling through the packed elevator, Jimin makes his way into the hallway and down to Jungkook's room. He slides the door open to find Jungkook by the window.

"Getting some fresh air?" Jimin asks.

"You're early today..." Jungkook comments, thinking that it is Taehyung.

"I'm not always late like Tae, Jungkook." Jimin says as he approaches the bed to pull out the rolling table. "And I brought you some food."

"Jimin-hyung?" Jungkook takes tiny footsteps towards the bed, his arms out to feel his surrounding.

"Tae had some stuff to take care of, so I'm his substitute for today." Jimin explains briefly as Jungkook climbs to sit on the bed.

Promptly taking out the containers from his lunch bag, Jimin places the food on the table. "Alright, from left to right: There's pickled radish, seasoned rice cake, the bowl of rice is right in the middle, next to it is spicy bulgogi, and on the top right is tofu soup." Jimin meticulously describes. "And...here you go." Jimin carefully takes Jungkook's hand and places the chopsticks in his palm.

"Th - Thank you, hyung." Jungkook stutters as he starts his meal. For the first time since the accident, Jungkook feels normal again. He had felt useless being fed by others, but now he is eating with his own hands. Jungkook misses the plates a few time on his first attempt, but he's gradually getting the hang of it.

Jimin smiles adoringly at the younger's effort. "The soup isn't too salty is it?"

"No, no. Not at all. Did hyung make it?"

"Uhm."

"I didn't know you can cook." Jungkook notes.

"There's a lot of thing you don't know about me Jungkook."

Jungkook stops his spoon in midair and places it down on the table. "Did I do something wrong hyung? We weren't always like this. We used to be...closer." Jimin can sense the hesitation in Jungkook's voice.

"You didn't do anything wrong, it's just...I don't know. Puberty happened, that's what. Now, hurry up and finish your meal." Jimin promptly puts an end to the conversation.

Jungkook finishes everything and gives Jimin a grateful smile. "Oh, by the way hyung. You didn't ask Taehyung about the proposal or anything yet right?"

Jimin looks up from where he's packing up the empty containers and utensils. "Yea, I didn't...what about it?"

"It's just, I didn't really get a chance to propose to him yet. I was going to but...this happened." Jungkook's words fade away at the end.

"Don't worry, I won't spill your secret before you can propose to him yourself." Jimin assures.

"About that...I don't know if I should even propose" Jungkook somberly sighs.

"What are you talking about-" Jimin is shocked at Jungkook's confession.

"I can't see his face but I can hear it in the strain of his voice, hyung. I'm just a burden to Taehyung now. I can't see, I can't do anything right!" Jungkook shouts in frustration.

"Jungkook-ah, it's not like that. You know he loves you so much, your injury won't change anything okay. If you ever propose to him, I'm 100% sure he will say yes. I'm his twin, I know him better than anyone. Don't you trust me?" Jimin swallows nervously.

"Really? Taehyung won't leave me?" Jungkook whimpers.

"Never." And with a pat on the back, Jimin leaves Jungkook.

Sitting in his parked car, Jimin grabs the steering wheel and repeatedly hits his forehead against the leather wheel. Shit, shit, shit. It wasn't a lie when Jimin said he knows his twin better than anyone. That's why he has noticed the tiredness in Taehyung's shoulder, the waning determination in his eyes. Jimin knows Taehyung is too scared to commit his life to Jungkook, who is now blind. Jimin knows. But he told Jungkook otherwise. How could he let the younger suffer even more than he already has? No way will Jimin do that.

Jimin finds Taehyung sitting listlessly on the couch when he comes home. He decides to confront his twin, knowing that that's the only way he can help fix things.

"Why didn't you visit Jungkook today?" Jimin inquires.

"I told you already, I had some stuff."

"We both know that's not the reason. Tell me." He pushes on.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Taehyung avoids looking in Jimin's eyes.

"On the day the accident happened, Jungkook was going to propose to you." Sorry Jungkook, I didn't keep my promise.

"What? Pro - Propose? Jungkook? To me?" Taehyung's wariness has been replaced with shock. "No, he can't. I...I..." He can't seem to find the right words to say.

"You what? You love him don't you? What are you hesitating for?!!?" Jimin already knows the answer but he still asks, hoping Taehyung will prove him wrong.

Taehyung breaks down into a broken sob, "I can't do it, Jiminie. Blame me all you want. I know I'm a fucking shameless bastard. But I'm scared, Jiminie! Things aren't the same anymore! I feel more like Jungkook's care taker than his lover, I can't live like this. You know me..." He cries uncontrollably.

"I know...I know. But can you at least try? Please, Tae. You can't do this to Jungkook." Jimin pleads, kneeling down in front of his weeping twin.

"I've been trying. I thought I could do it, but it gets harder day after day. Now I don't even have the heart to see him anymore. I can't look at him in the eyes when I feel how I feel Jiminie. I'm so sorry. I'm so fucking sorry. Fuck, fuck, fuck..." Taehyung's fingers are scrunched up in his hairs, his cheeks wet from tears and snots.

"Oh Tae, what are we going to do?" Jimin takes Taehyung into his embrace. He cares for Jungkook but he also loves his brother too much to see him suffer. With the way things are, Jimin cannot count on Taehyung to stay by Jungkook's side. But without Taehyung, what will Jungkook do? He'll be devastated. The wheels in Jimin's brain start to turn.

The following morning, Jimin finds himself standing outside Jungkook's hospital room. He has made sure to show up late. Anxiously, Jimin slides open the door and steps inside.

"Kookie, I'm here." Jimin says, trying hard to mask the nervousness in his voice.

"Taehyungie?"

. . .

. . .

. . .

"Mhm, it's me."

Jimin slides the door shut.
