Undercover

chapter 2

I stood there and stared at his hand for a second or two. Without giving it much thought i took his hand and shook it.

"Gotta be better than paperwork, right?"

"Good, please come with me, we have to get you ready for your assignment, id like to get you undercover as soon as possible."

"How long is the assignment and what will my role be."

"You will find out when i brief the rest of the team."

A team? So this is big, normally its one or two people involved.

He left the office. I looked over at Sarge who held his hand out to me. I took it and gave it a firm shake.

" Good luck Dalton."

I once again nodded and left the office and followed  sergeant Daniels who was waiting for me at the elevator.

He pushed the button and the doors opened after a few seconds. We both stepped in. I turned around and looked at the bullpen for what might be the last time as the doors closed and the elevator started to descend.

"I heard a lot about you detective, i sure hope you live up to your reputation."

When the elevator reached the end of its decend, we exited the elevator and entered the lobby.

"So where are we going?"

"The 15th precinct. There i will itroduce you to the rest of the team and you will receive your cover. "

I looked up at him and nodded. He was an attractive man for his age. He looks about 40, with a square jaw and stubble running roughly across his jaw. His black hair was unkept with streakes of grey. His brown eyes held experience. He was tall and well built, he had an important presence about him.

I followed him to the cruiser parked out in front of the building. He unlocked both doors with his remote and moved to the drivers side and getting in while i did the same at the passenger's side.

He started the engin with a roar and took of to our destination.

It was a short drive to the 15th precinct. When we arrived, both of us got out at the same time and headed towards the doors as he locked the car behind us.

I followed him through the passages that he seemed to navigave with ease.

For some reason everyone was staring at me while i was making my way behind sergeant Daniels. I was starting to feel really uncomfortable under the stares i was getting.

We reached a door with his name on it. He opened the door and walked through, holding it open for me on the other side. I walked through to see two people sitting on a love seat in the corner. And another on an office chair.

" Right, now that everyone is here, lets get started." Daniels said gesturing at a vacant chair for me to sit in.

I walked over and sat down, crossed my arms and looked up at Daniels, waiting for him to continue.

"This opp is extremely important, you'll be working on getting inside info on a new and dangerous gang in the area. You will get close to people both in the community and affiliated with this gang. The opp is indefinitely, you will protect your cover as long as possible even if it is years. Understood?"

All threr people on the room nodded in unison.

"Fantastic. " he said as he began handing us folders, " these folders contain your covers and details off the opp. Memorise it by heart and quickly too, because your opp starts tommorow."

I nodded at him once again and opened the file in my hands and read through the info before me.

"Oh, you've got to be kidding me?? Are you serious this is my cover?"

I looked over to the other people in the room, the look o  their faces said it all. They wernt expecting this at all.

I have no idea how im going to pull this off....
