The miracle

She lay there,
As cold and pale as death itself.
Not a single hair did stir,
As she lay lifelessly on her bed.

Her mother sat beside her.
Mother's heart wallowing in sorrow.
A smile she didn't offer,
Not even a brief promise of tomorrow.

The doctors shook their heads,
She was far too gone.
Her soul was nearly dead,
And her mother would soon be alone.

With gentle care,
Her mother washed her face,
And combed her hair,
And left her in solace.

She aged a day, a week, two weeks
Her mother cared for her
Until she was old and weak.

It was then that the miracle happened.

A gasp, a sputter,
A spark of life,
A breathe of air,
And a sparkle in her smile.

She flung her eyes open,
Revealing golden brown eyes.
Like a gift from heaven
To her mother's sore eyes.

Tears in her eyes,
Smile on her face,
She sat up and showed her mother,
The miracle she became.

The reason I even posted this is because of my best friend. It's her birthday today and she wanted me to do this so here I am...

Happy b'day strawberry 🍓 You are literally the most amazing person I ever had the good fortune of meeting. You inspire me and encourage me to do the one thing I love, writing. I'm lucky to call such a strong person my best friend. And now your fifteen!!! Practically a grandma 😋 Jk, jk. You'll just get married a year before me. Maybe even years before me ;)

P. S. Don't kill me. I couldn't resist.

P. P. S. Ilysm ❤
