"It's just you and I tonight, Why don't you figure my heart out?" Heart out - The 1975

I remember when I was a child playing in the back yard with my dad. He was always so loving and kind. He protected me from the monsters under my bed and made me feel safe. Time to wake up, sweetie" my mum says, knocking on my door, bringing me out of my silent reverie. I groan and look at the time on my phone. It's only 7 in the morning. I reluctantly step out of bed and find some clothes to wear today. I pull out something semi nice then put it on and head downstairs.

"Mornin'" I say as I greet my mum, Amelia and Madison at the table. Amelia replies with a cheery hello but Madison seems too interested in her breakfast to take note of anything else. "If you don't mind, could you pick up Jess soon? We need to get to church and you know it starts at 8:30." She asks me. "Of course Mum" I reply.

Once breakfast is over, I leave to pick up Jess from her friend's house. "Hey" I say as she climbs into the car. "Hey" she replies. "Well, was it fun?" I ask. "Yep". "So what happened at the party" I ask in an effort to create conversation as I drive home. "Not much". I give up on trying to ask about the party and remind her that once we're home she has to quickly get ready for church. The remainder of the car ride is silent except for the gentle hum of the radio as it plays music softly.

When we get home Jess quickly goes inside and up to her room while I help Mum clean the kitchen. Soon enough, Mum calls for us all to leave and we hop in the car to go.

As Mum drives us home I check my phone, noting I have 6 texts, 5 from Harry and just one from Emma.

Harry: shit please help

Harry: Emma just sent me all these photos of me with other girls from the other night and she won't stop attacking me

Harry: can you please tell her to calm down or say the photos are from before I started to go out with her?

Harry: omg now she said she's coming over

Harry: please, I need you right now

I laugh lightly at the messages then check the one from Emma.

Emma: are those photos really from before Harry and I started dating?

I don't know how to respond. Either I lie to my best friend for the sake of the boy I like or I tell Em the truth and risk Harry hating me. Sure, maybe he won't hate me but he won't be happy with me.

Me: They were on facebook so I assumed it was from that night. I'm not too sure though. Sorry :)

I reply to Emma hoping she won't be upset with me and then go back to Harry's messages.

Me: hey, is she still angry?

He replies a minute later saying she seems to have calmed down now and thanks me for whatever I did.

Harry: You busy this afternoon?

Me: I don't think so. Why?

Harry: I think it's time we go on a date.

Me: Oh, how romantic. Where are we going?

Harry: It's a surprise. Be ready at 4 ;)

I shut my phone off while smiling ridiculously to myself. When we arrive home I notice Emma's car parked in Harry's driveway. I guess she really did end up going over to his place. It's only 9:45am so I decide to go do some school work to pass the hours until our date.
