The heavy smell of rain lingered through the apartment as Light vigorously wrote on the documents that were due next week. Light had been looking through all of their suspects and sorting out which ones they would take in for questioning and which ones they did not yet have enough information for them to be extremely useful. Yes, it was tedious work, but Light enjoyed working along side L. He had dreamed of this moment ever since he had first heard about him from his dad. Of course, the thin, pale, peculiar man he was now affiliated with was not what he expected but nevertheless, his wits outweighed his looks tremendously. You see, Einstein was no beauty either. Light stretched out his arms and rubbed his head. He was extremely tired and decided that where he was now was a good place to stop for the night. He moved over to the sofa in the middle of the living room and turned on the TV. Suddenly, L walked through the door, holding two cups of black tea in one hand and cream and sugar in the other.
"Tea?" L asked, already setting the cup he prepared for Light on the coaster next to the pen he got him as a gift for his graduation. Light was already skilled and had enough experience from the Death Note case he worked on to completely skip over all the new comers (with L's help of course as he personally requested Light to be his partner with the success previously mentioned).
"Thanks," Light murmured, not really focusing on the tea or the work, but rather the thoughts of their newest case, a Drug Heist in Harlem, still preoccupied his mind. Light had actually been pretty bored following the Death Note case, so it was good for him to finally get back into the swing of things. The case did take an extremely long time to complete, but once L figured out the notorious model, Misa Aname, was behind the whole thing, she was apprehended and executed and everything went back to how it was before criminals started dying in mass numbers.
"Come on Yagami, lighten up a little," L said as he scooted closer to Light, who was now sitting on the couch next to the television. L then moved forward to place his cup of tea next to Light's, pouring what seemed to be enough sugar to make someone go into a coma. While these notions might seem unusual to most, Light was used to L's weird tendencies and actually found them cute from time to time. L then took a sip of his tea and continued to add more sugar to the mix. This routine continued for quite some time until L was satisfied with the taste of the beverage. Suddenly, the room fell quiet and the two young men's breaths synchronized as they watched the latest news story. It was now even more late than before, and they were both terribly tired and ready to go to sleep. L was actually dosing off from time to time but tried not to make it noticeable so that he could stay up longer with his partner. Light suddenly felt pressure on his shoulder and looked down to find L's massive eyes staring back at him. With his face softened, and his hair falling at just the right places, L was the image of perfection to Light; he would certainly do anything to make sure he was safe. He moved L in closer towards him so that their faces were inches apart from each others. This caused L to get quite flustered as his otherwise white faced turned a shade of red you would only see from tomatoes or strawberries. He leaned backwards and fell on top of the pillows beside him.
"You seem tired." Light said as he moved his hand toward the young detective's porcelain skin, caressing it lightly. "Do you want to go to sleep?"
"Sure why not" L retorted, getting up from his previous spot and positioning him so he was facing light. "How about a little kiss first?" L asked, blushing and looking towards Light with puppy-dog-eyes. This request made a soft smile appear on Lights face as he suddenly pulled L in so that he could feel his warm breath on his lips. This caused L's face to turn a more fiery shade of red that made L look like he was either suffocating or suffering from a rash.
"Aww. It seems that I've flustered the little detective." Light teased as he leaned in and pressed his lips onto his partner's cheek. "Now go to sleep. He have a lot to accomplish tomorrow." Light then picked L up bridal style to the bedroom they both slept in with two twin beds squished in the two opposite corners of the small room. Light then leaned L into bed and retreated to his own. There they both peacefully slept, not yet knowing the troubles they would face tomorrow.
Whoop Whoop! My first chapter of a project I've been thinking about making is now finished! I will also be updating this fanfic a lot more than my other one just because this one is a lot more fun to write ^^
Feedback would also be greatly appreciated, so if you see anything I should change or if you find errors or want my chapters to be longer (or shorter), don't hesitate to ask!
Well, I hope you enjoyed this chapter! Stay tuned for the next one!
