Ava's POV

My body froze at the sound of Hayes' angry voice. I turned to see Hayes striding towards me. He was wearing black jeans that wear ripped beyond repair, matched with a black leather jacket that fit him perfectly. His honey colored hair fell in beautiful waves and his usual gleeful hazel eyes were now filled with hate. To an outsider he was the epitomy of sexiness, but to me he was just the sweet joyful boy that entered my life when I needed someone the most.

He came to a stop in front of the guy I was with. "Why are you with her Nolan?" Hayes asked as he threw daggers at him.

So his name was Nolan. I thought to myself. He was looking at Hayes with the same hateful expression.

"That's none of your fücking business." Nolan said, his expression stone cold. Hayes at this point was seething at Nolan.

"Just fücking watch yourself, we don't need a repeat of last time." Hayes said through clenched teeth.

A cold smile spread on Nolan's face as he took a menacing step forward towards Hayes. He stood a couple inches taller than Hayes but they both appeared to be equal in strength due to their bulging muscles threatening to rip through their tight tees.

"Last time if I remember correctly, you backed down after a couple punches."

Hayes let out a dry laugh. "I did that for the sake of her, so don't fool yourself."

Her? This left me confused as to who they were referring too. Nolan stayed silent and I felt like it was time for me to stop this before it escalated further.

I walked forward and placed my hand in Hayes, softly tugging at it. He slightly turned his head as if he just remembered I was there.

"Let's just go Hayes. It's not worth getting worked up over." I whispered. My eyes clashed with Nolan's for a split second before his eyes fixated on our intertwined hands.

You could visibly see him clenching his jaw and I heard a grunt coming from Hayes.

"Just stay the fück away from Ava." Hayes said before starting to walk away pulling my hand as a signal to follow.

My feet started to move in the direction he was pulling me and I tried not to look up at Nolan, but couldn't bring myself to.

I caught him staring intensely at us and saw his jaw go slack before I looked down not wanting to look at him any longer. I continued to walk away with Hayes, not once looking back. We quickly made our way down towards the parking lot right to where Hayes' old Honda civic was parked.

He let go of my hand and went over to the driver's side before getting in. I followed his lead and got into his car, choosing to remain silent.

Hayes didn't say anything either as he started the car and zoomed out of the parking lot. His knuckles turned white as they clenched the steering wheel and he gaze didn't waver from the road at all.

I felt very weary to say anything to him at that moments about Nolan, but I did anyways, out of concern.

"Hayes what happened back there?" He let out a soft sigh as if he expected this question.

"Ava it's nothing to worry about. We just have some bad history that's all." Not wanting to push him any further on it, I just let it go.

"Alright Hayes. Anyway how was your performance today?" I asked. At the change of topic his mood instantly improved. He broke out into the beautiful smile I adored.
