"Shawn Mendes!", the principal announced smiling profoundly at the handsome young man walking up the steps. The plaudits of the crowd were loud and exciting. I gleamed at my boyfriend of two years while snapping a couple pictures of him holding his diploma, he looked so happy, but not for long, my face saddened at the thought. I hadn't told him yet that I was going to college in London, England, which was 3,574 miles away from Toronto, Canada. The rest of the graduation was a blur, as soon as the principal called the last name I was out of there. I ran, fast, and Id never run that fast unless something was chasing me. But something was chasing me. Fear, sadness, remorse, and dread. My gown flew in the wind as I ran to the car. "ALEXIS!", Shawn called "Dammit", I muttered while tears slowly formed in my eyes.
"What's wrong darling", Shawn cooed.
My heart fluttered at his statement, even in moments like these, Shawn still knew how to make my heart sing.
"Nothing, I just need to get home", I lied, "to rest and stuff"
"But we drove together remember", Shawn replied, confused. I sighed, how was I going to tell him?
"Shawn, we need to talk", I whispered tears started to drip down my face.
"We're not breaking up are we?", he croaks, on the verge of crying.
"No, yes, I don't know Shawn"
"What's that supposed to mean"
"I want to stay with you, I do", I cried, "but I can't".
"Why?", he whispered, tears falling from his face.
"My school is in England, not here and I wanted to tell you but, you were so happy, and i didn't want to ruin your happiness Shawn", he stared at me intently.
"How come you never told me?", Shawn said his voice raising a bit.
I stared down at my feet.
"Shawn, please", I whimpered.
He looked at me with soft eyes and then proceeded to hold me as I cried into his chest. Once we got home, we were greeted by all of our friends and family yelling "SURPRISE!", Shawn jumped back with wide eyes and a hand over his chest.
We danced to our favorite songs, ate our favorite food, and hung out with our friends, together, one last time. I looked at Shawn dancing like a maniac with his friends. His eyes caught my gaze, "ALEXIS!", he called "COME DANCE WITH ME!"
I smiled to myself ."God, I love him", I whispered to myself while smiling.
He pulled me into his sweaty embrace.
We danced the night away, not a trace of sadness was seen.
Man was I gonna miss this.
A lot.
*End of flashback*
"I'm really gonna miss you baby", I sniff.
"Me too Lex", Shawn coos.
"Don't forget about me", I say tearfully,"don't forget about us".
"I won't darling, I promise", I smile at him.
"I love you so much"
"I love you more"
"I love you most"
"Impossible!", I laugh at his silliness.
"FLIGHT 57 TO LONDON ENGLAND DEPARTING IN 10 MINUTES", the lady on the intercom announces.
"Well, that's my cue", I sigh.
"Bye", he croaks.
I begin to walk away with my luggage. Once I reach the door I drop everything and run back to Shawn.
"Alexis what are you-", I cut him off and kiss him passionately.
At first he's shocked but he then gives in.
"Two years, and you thought I would've left without a kiss, huh?", We laughed together.
I basked in his embrace, one last time.
