***The Doctor***
The Tardis roared an eerie moaning noise as the blue box tumbled through the time vortex. The Doctor had just dropped Amy and Rory off on a honeymoon made of actual honey and had nothing to do. He walked past each side of the console, admiring all the pretty buttons, levers, and switches. Companionless for the time being, the Time Lord looked up to the time rotor in wonder.
"Let's see, I could visit the dinosaurs, or marry a queen again, or have cocktails on the 27th moon of Cintacalista." The Doctor said aloud, as if expecting someone to reply...but nobody did. The Time Lord was alone, and he hadn't been alone for quite some time.
"What's the point I've done it all already, this is why I have companions." He said again to himself.
The Doctor reached over the console and pushed a few random buttons, then continued to pull some random levers on his whimsical console expecting something to happen...PFT PFT BOOM! The console sparked, and the entire ship began to jerk from side to side!
"Ahhhaha, what?!" The Doctor screamed, like the mad man he was.
He ran across the console in a frenzy pulling zigzag plotters, and throwing temporal switched, but the Tardis just wasn't responding. He typed a few quick keys into the typewriter, and shoved the big lever, attempting to activate emergency materialization, but to no avail. A look between worry, and excitement was evident on the Doctor's face; he reached for the monitor to assess the situation.
"What's wrong with you, eh old girl?" He asked.
Scanning the monitor his eyes shot up in alarm, and he felt a surge in his stomach.
"It's as if the time vortex itself has vanished...but that's not possible." The Doctor said, shoving the monitor to the side.
He slammed his fist hard on the console PFT and she sparked back in response. The doctor reached for the emergency dematerialization lever, and shoved it hard one last time! WWVVOORP WWVVOOORP WWVOOOORP!! The engines screeched as she tried to land, the Time Rotor leapt and fell at great speeds, and the roundels across the walls flashed like a disco rave!
WVVVOORP WWVVVOORP WVVOOORP WVVOOORP THRUMP!! The Tardis landed with a jolt, and the Doctor fell to the floor in a hurry. He raised his hands to the edge of the console, pulling himself up when he realized he was surrounded by utter darkness. The whimsical lights and moving bits of the console were frozen, the roundels didn't shine, and the only light that appeared was the faint glow coming through the glass windows on the door. The last Tardis in all of time and space was dead.
"Okay...I must've somehow fell out of the vortex and through the void, possibly into another universe." The Doctor thought aloud.
Rose Tyler instantly came to mind...
"No top it! I can't think of Rose, not anymore, she has her own life, she's moved on, and so have I!" The Doctor said, reassuring himself.
"So where am I?"
Slowly walking toward the door, he straightened his tweed jacket, and adjusted his maroon bow tie, bracing himself for whatever was behind those doors.
"Geronimo"
Expecting the worse he reached for the bronze handle and flung the door open only to find...trees. Trees, and leaves, and grass, and a park bench. It appeared to be Earth, England, early 21st century. He took a look at his watch.
"Hmm half past three. I should probably think this through." He said stepping back into the box.
Walking back in he paced around the console, staring at the bits and pieces of his now dead Tardis.
"C'mon old girl, there's gotta be something left in ya."
He shot his head around the console room searching for the tiniest slither of power. Boop. The monitor shimmered light for a fraction of a millisecond. Vrp. The time rotor slightly shifted. Bp, Beep, Bop, Boop, Ft, The roundels began to Blip on and off again, the console faintly glowed on and off.
"Ohhh of course. Emergency protocol, whenever the Tardis loses power she saves a few tiny bits of energy and loops it on a restoration cycle, she should have power within 24 hours." said the Doctor.
Excitement shot across his face, he had just realized that he had 24 hours in a parallel universe. He walked out the doors eagerly awaiting whatever this new universe had to offer.
***Hope***
She wasn't your basic 14 year-old girl. Hope was something else. An only child, with basic parents that didn't exactly "understand" her. She stood at about five feet tall, with long ginger hair, similar to that of Amelia Pond's. She didn't have many friends as most people saw her as "weird" because of her addiction to the popular television series Doctor Who.
Ever since she was introduced to the show in 2005 she couldn't stop watching. She owned every single DVD, all the action figures, every comic book, every screwdriver, and could quote nearly every episode word for word. She loved the show to death and back. Most people called her "nerd", "loser", or even obsessive" but to her those were just synonyms of passionate. She tried not to let other's opinions get to her, and lived each day as the optimist the Doctor taught her to be.
It was an ordinary Saturday morning for Hope, she woke up ate her cereal, and turned on the TV to watch Doctor who. After TV, she threw on some jeans, and a flannel grabbed a book, and her iPod and walked to the park for some relaxation time.
Today however, was different. While walking along the sidewalk book in hand, she heard a familiar noise coming from the park. The wind blew harder, and the noise intensified. It was a wheezing groaning type of sound. She stopped in her tracks, and stared out in disbelief. Recognizing the noise, she didn't know if her mind was playing tricks on her. A couple hundred yards away she spotted the iconic blue box parked atop the grass.
She dropped her book, and ran like the wind! Hope didn't care if her mind was playing tricks on her or not, she didn't want to take the risk. A million trillion thoughts raced through her mind, and she didn't even grow tired as she sprinted towards the box.
She ran up to the box slamming the doors like crazy. The metal door handle felt cold in her fingers, sending a shiver down her spine.
"Hmm, if the assembled hordes of Genghis Khan couldn't get through these doors, I doubt I could." Hope said, sighing.
She tried another approach, and simply knocked on the doors.
"Doctor, Doctor, hello? Anybody there?" She asked.
Apparently nobody was home much to Hope's dismay. She placed her ear to the wood, and heard a quick mechanical whine. She decided to just continue with her regular schedule; if this box really were the Tardis then the Doctor would eventually return. She walked over to a nearby bench, threw in her ear buds, and waited.
[a/n: Since I recently just hit 10k reads I've decided to rewrite this series. I realize it had many spelling and or grammatical errors, as well as a few misconceptions, so I shall be refining it, and making it a much more enjoyable/less painful read. Don't forget to comment, leave a vote, and check out my other story out, New In Town. Enjoy!]
