Before the originals became who they are today, they were human. Well one was a werewolf and the rest were witches. Just like Georgia Claire, a descendent of the New Orleans witch, Davina Claire in the 21st century.
But when Georgia was turned, it was right after the Mikaelson family became vampires out of Rebekah's bloodline, so the blonde could save Kol's lover from dying.
So the witch became a vampire and became a member of the Mikaelson family, well only because she was Kol's longtime lover and partner in crime. The two did everything together, kill, drink, love.
But Georgia continued with her life, when Kol was daggered and they loved each other for centuries until the 21st.
When Kol woke up from his slumber when his mother came back, Georgia had been compelled by his brother to forget him. When he came back, it confused her.
