"MOM!!!" I call out after I get home from school. My mother has been sick with terminal cancer in her lungs, so she may not have much longer left.
I never got a response from my mother so I steadily walked up the stairs of the apartment to my mother's room... but what I saw was horrific. My mother was on the floor by her bed and seemed to not be breathing, I instantly called 999 and told them what happened and my address... they thankfully got here wishing minutes.
Once in the hospital, I was bombarded with questions about how my mom was and her cancer stage..... but you'd think they would know all of this stuff but they didn't. I waited, and waited, with no new news about how my mom was doing.... until about 7 hours later the doctor came into the waiting room.
"Is anyone here for Veronica Spencer?" The doctor asked.
I immediately stood up and went to the doctor.
"How is she?" I asked.
"She will be okay, but she may not last much longer.... you may go in and see her, she's in room 267 floor 2." The young man said.
After I had gotten that information, I sprinted up the two long flights of stairs to my mom...... when I finally got to her room, tears started pooling in my eyes. My poor mother, so gentle and frail, was lightly breathing and her eyes where closed. I slowly walked up to her, grabbed her hand, and said, "Mom?"
It took her a few minutes to respond and open her gorgeous green eyes.... but what came next, literally broke my heart into pieces.
"Hi sweetheart, I know this is hard to see me like this, but I'm not going to live much longer, so I am sending you to live with your father's parents in Los Angeles, California."
My dear mom said with tears trailing down her pail cheeks.
"I'm what!?!? Mom I can't leave you, especially not now when you need me!" I argued. But it was too late, my mom had already arranged it for me and I was leaving my hometown of London, to go to stupid California..... and my rich grandparents barely ever knew me.... the last time I saw them, I was 9, it was at my father's funeral. He died in a car accident a week before my 10 birthday.
"Sweetheart, I need to rest and you need to pack your things for LA, since you're leaving tomorrow evening. Come visit before you leave, will you?" My mother asked, her voice frail.
"Of course, I love you mom... I'll see you tomorrow!"
"I love you too!!!" I faintly heard my mom say as I was walking out of her hospital room.

At home
After my stressful drive home in the horrendous London traffic, I got to packing all of my shorts, t-shirts, leggings, skinny jeans, skirts, tank tops, a few formal dresses just in case we go somewhere fancy, sweaters, pajamas, and my heels and converse..... and a few bathing suits.... I tend to over pack just a bit.
After packing I went down to my kitchen, got some supper, and went to bed; so I was rested for my flight tomorrow.
