Metaphorically, breaking down walls seems like a great idea. To open yourself up to the world and people around you. I mean how many songs today tell us to, "break down the walls and let the light in..."? I've always tried to find the message in the music, and apply it to my life. So when I heard someone sing the words, "break down your walls." I tried to apply it to my life, and I was quite successful! Unfortunately for me, I went a step to far and literally broke down my walls.

You know when you wake up in the middle of the night, everything is dark, your brain is all groggy from sleep and the only thing you know for sure is that you really, really, have to pee? One night I woke up, dazed, confused, and exhausted from the late night I had spent watching horror movies, and the only thing I knew for sure was that I really, really, really, had to pee.

Before we get to deep into the story you have to understand that my house is under constant renovation, and because my room is in the basement where all the old furniture gets dumped the path from my bedroom to the bathroom gets harder to navigate everyday.

Once I got out of bed I slowly made my away around couches, end tables, lamps, and all other kinds of furniture we had stashed downstairs, to the bathroom. That night there was a lot more clutter then normal and I was quietly chanting "don't walk into furniture, don't walk into the furniture." Even my sleep deprived brain understood how bad running into the corner of a table, or stubbing my toe on a file cabinet would hurt. So when my hundred year old furnace kicked in with a loud BANG! My half conscious brain made two good decisions:

1. RUN! THERE IS A MURDER IN YOUR LAUNDRY ROOM AND ONLY THE COVER OF YOUR BLANKET WILL SAVE YOU!

2. Don't run straight into the furniture.

So, I turned right and ran as hard as I could, straight into the wall.

A bloody nose, and three broken toes later I decided that breaking down walls is better said, then done.
