Elijah's POV
The next morning was when things began to get real.
I laid in the bed that I was given and rubbed my eyes. Everyone was awake except for Violet. I could hear everybody else downstairs talking and laughing. I looked at the clock by my bed and sighed. It was 7 and training started at 8. I debated in my head for awhile if I wanted to get up before I decided that I should and wake up Violet before I went downstairs. I swinged my legs off of the bed and sat up. I sighed before putting my feet into the slipped that they had supplied at the edge of the bed. They were slightly too small but who was I to complain. I walked into the bathroom and brushed my teeth.
It took awhile of talking myself into it before I could wake up Violet. I knocked on her door and I could hear her groan, making me laugh. "Violet, we have training soon." I heard nothing behind the door. She wasn't a morning person. "Vi, come on. You have an hour to get dressed."
I heard footsteps before the door opened. "Did you just call me Vi?"
She looked at me through the small crack in the door that she had opened. The only thing I could see was her eyes and the sun shining through the window. It beamed onto the floor in the hall. "Um, should I not call you that?"
She shook her head and opened the door. She had the same slippers on as me except her feet swam in them. She had on a over sized shirt and her hair was up in a bun. She pulled her hair out of the rubber band that constructed it and it fell into curls against her shoulders. "You can call me that all you want." She smiled. "I like it."
I nodded and she looked at me then glanced at the dresser next to her. "Oh, yeah." I smiled and looked down the hall. "I'll see you downstairs okay?" She nodded and I closed her door and walked down the stairs.
The smile that was on my face didn't seem to leave and I didn't think that it would leave anytime soon. I liked having somebody here that I could connect with. If I didn't have somebody here like Violet I don't think that I would be able to stay here. I don't think that I would be able to handle being with people that were such opposites of me.
I walked into the kitchen and saw Lyla sitting on the counter. She had an apple that was half eaten in her hand. A few second later the door to the fridge closed and I saw Henry. He cracked two eggs into a bowl and mixed them with a fork. "Morning sunshine." Lyla said looking at me. The eggs crackled as they fell onto the heated pan. "Is the other morning person awake?" She said sarcastically.
"Yeah. She is actually." I said turning to look at the staircase. "I have a feeling we're going to be waking her up a lot more often than we think." I smiled and I heard footsteps travel upstairs and migrate towards the staircase until I saw Violet.
Her eyes were still groggy from waking up and she had on a completely different outfit now. He hair was put up neatly and she raised an eyebrow at us. "Are you talking about me?" All of us smiled innocently at her question and she shook her head. "The walls aren't sound proof you know? Not everybody is morning person." She laughed and sat next to Lyla. I looked at the clock and we now had about 15 minutes left until training was supposed to start.
"What are you guys expecting out of training?" I questioned, looking at everybody and waiting for a response.
Henry responded. "Lots of realizations I guess you could say. I want to better my abilities."
Everybody nodded. We all talked, and got to know each other better as the 15 minutes that we had left went on. We all anticipated what would happen in the next few hours of the day, and the time had finally come to find out.
We all walked out to the field in the front of the house. We could see Jones from a distance and he had a small group of men following him. We all looked at each other, not expecting to be evaluated by so many people.
"Morning guys." Jones smiled and took off his sunglasses. "Are you all well rested?" We all nodded and stood silent. The men behind Jones were just as silent as us. "Each of you will be stationed in a different area. Our main goal today is to get you comfortable with the things that you can do and how you can use them to your advantage. Everybody is okay with that?"
"Yeah." We all said.
Jones nodded and clapped his hands. "Well then, let's not waste anymore time that we have to." He looked at the men behind him. "Lyla, please follow him." Jones pointed to one of the men and once he did he began walking. It clicked in Lyla's head that she was supposed to follow and she scurried after him. "Henry, you're with.." he paused and pointed again. "Him." This man was bigger. Henry immediately followed after the man. "Violet.." Jones looked at the last man that was behind him and Violet got the hint that she was going to be working with him. The two of the walked in a separate direction from Lyla and Henry. "Elijah." I looked behind Jones and realized that there was nobody there for me to work with. Before I could speak up and tell him this he began to talk. "You'll be working with me today."
This took me by surprise. I didn't think that I had enough control over what I was able to do to be working with the man who was stronger than the four people I shared a home with combined. "Are you sure?"
Jones looked offended when I asked him this. "Are you questioning my choices?" I shook my head. "Good then let's get to work." Jones walked towards a small shed on the field and brought out a few red flags. He dropped the on the floor next to his feet. "Now I know what you can do, but do you know how to use it?" He smiled at me. I nodded. Jones shook his hand and I was already prepared. My shadow was energizing behind me and Jones pulled something I've never seen with my own eyes out from behind him. He did it so quickly and I was so mesmerized I didn't remember to fight back until the split second I had left. He had thrown a ball of light. Instead of taking care of it with my body I decided to show him by capability by letting my shadow take care of it. The light made contact and blinded all of us for a few seconds. I could feel my shadows energy weaken by the strength on the ball of light. The light dimmed and I could finally see again. I looked down to see a small fire in the grass on the field. I put it out with my shoe and Jones clapped. He walked towards me and put a red flag where the grass had darkened from the fire. "Every time you conquer a ball of light, I will put a red flag. The more red flags you have by the end of the day the more orbs of darkness you will receive." The orbs of darkness are equivalent to the balls of light. I could use them to counteract any battle of the enemy I was fighting.
My trainer was a sacred light manipulator and I was a mere shadow trainee.

Violets POV
I watched as Elijah and Jones worked on the other side of the field as me. A red flag was placed onto the group next to him and I was nervous that it meant something bad for him.
"Are you ready?" I turned and looked at my...trainer? I nodded and smiled at him. "I'm Wren." He put his hand behind his head and his other hand out towards mine.
I raised my eyebrow and shakes his hand. "Violet." He smiled and looked at me. He stood there awhile smiling and making me feel awkward. "So are we going to train?" He abruptly looked down and laughed.
"Oh, yeah." He picked up the bag that he carried with him. "Let's begin." He unzipped the bag and pulled out a few glass bottles. He set them aside and pulled a gun out of the bag. I backed away from the bag and Wren and he looked at me. He could tell that I was scared. "Oh, I'm not gonna shoot at you." He smiled and stood up. He put the gun in his back pocket. "I'm shooting in the air." I stopped backing away and nodded. "Are you ready to get started?" I walked towards him.
"Yeah, what are we whaling for?" He took a deep breath out and chucked one of the glass bottles high into the air.
"Stop the bottle, don't break it. Stop the bullet and bring it into the bottle." Without warning he cocked the gun and shot into the air. I was caught off guard and stopped the bottle as it began falling and it landed softly onto the grass. It took a bit more energy and focus to stop the bullet because it was smaller and farther away from me. My head began to ache as it focused in on the bullet. Once I knew I had it I brought it down slowly and let it fall into the bottle. It clanked around and I smiled seeing it at the bottom of the bottle.
Wren would clap for me each time I was able to get the bullet into the bottle. Especially when the bullet and bottle were shot in different directions. My head was aching at the end of our session and I watched as Wren put the bottles into the bag again. He walked up to me and smiled. "I hope that we work together again next time you train." He put his hand out for me to shake again.
I put my hand in his and shook it. "Till next time, Wren."
He held on to my hand for a bit too long. " till next time." His hand finally left mine and I watched as he met with the other trainers and Jones. Lyla, Henry, and Elijah all walked towards me and we laid in the grass together.
"How was it?" Lyla said putting her hands over her face.
"I had to stop bullets." I chimed in and looked at Elijah.
"I had to fight a sacred light manipulator." We al lifter our heads and looked at Elijah. He shut his eyes and looked at Henry.
Henry looked away from Elijah. "I had to race..my clones..in a maze."
We all laughed and Lyla spoke up. "I had to choose a door that my trainer was behind and I had to battle him and channel his energy into mine."
All of us sighed and began to think about all of the different ways each of our days turned out.
Just as we thought that our day was finally coming to an end, footsteps approached us. We looked up to see Jones looked at all of us. "Elijah and Violet." Me and Elijah quickly stood up and looked at Jones. "Lyla and Henry." They stood up. "You guys can go." Lyla and Henry looked at each other and scrambled to go to the house so they didn't have to do whatever me and Elijah had to right now. "Are you guys friends?" I looked at Elijah and he nodded. I nodded as well. "I'm sorry I'm doing this then." Me and Elijah looked at each other then looked back at Jones. "I need you to battle."
"I wont hurt a girl." Elijah chimed in quickly.
"You wont kill her. I'm testing the abilities of the two strongest." I looked down at my feet and smiled. It took me awhile to come to the realization that the sun was setting. I looked at Elijah and my heart pounded. He was stronger at night. "Begin."
Without warning, Elijah used a new source of energy that I never had seen out of him before towards me. It extended from his hands and grew as it spiraled towards me. It was dark and looked like it was ready to consume me. I closed my eyes and when I opened them, the energy bent upwards and I watched as it disintegrated and it fell in flakes above us. Elijah ran towards me and I wasn't able to focus on him because of all the focus that I had already used today. He came closed to me and I watched as I was finally able to push him back in a force that I didn't know I had in me. His back slid against the grass and I knew it would stain his white shirt. I looked down and watched as the blood from my nose dropped onto my shirt. Without any knowledge I was pushed back by the force that Elijah hit me with. I stood up and I gathered the force that I had left in me and the day turned to night. I saw as Elijah absorbed the energy from the night dimming.
That's when we heard the whistle. Jones walked between the two of us and stopped what we were doing. "That's enough for today." He smiled nervously. "Good work guys. Go get some rest."
Elijah walked next to me as we walked to the house. I dragged my feet and he wrapped his arms around me and smiled. "He was afraid of us." I looked down and laughed.
"I know it was amazing to see" Elijah nodded and opened the door for me. "I could only imagine what we have to do tomorrow."
