"Aubrey! Frank! Jamie! We need to go to Dad's house to get your school stuff!" Oh, right, I still haven't told Grammie that I went there a few weeks ago.

I shoot up from my bed to tell her.

"Um, I got the stuff a few weeks ago. I went to Dad's house while he was at work." I say, worried Grammie will get angry with me for going there where I could have been killed or something by Dad.

Luckily, she just pulled a bit of a face.

"Oh, well, that saves me from doing another job, ha! Okay then what do you want for breakfast!" Grammie smiles.

Jamie rushes out from his room and bursts out "Ikelets! Ikelets!" By which he means pikelets.

"Yeah, do we have any pikelet mix left?" I chuckle. I look at Jamie and smile.

"Well, I'll ask Frank if he wants pikelets. FRANK! Are you up?"

Grammie calls.

Frank drowsily walks out of his room, yawning and scratching his back.

"Do you want ikelets?!" Jamie shouted, which startled Frank.

"What? Oh, right, sure!" He laughed.

"Okay, I'll get some pikelets ready!" Grammie chuckled.

She walks over to the fridge which is full with about a million eggs and cartons of milk.

She whistles over to the bench and starts cooking.

In the middle of swirling around the pan, Grammie drops the pan, the mixture flowing on the floor, and a wave of tears come through.

Grammie's tears.

Grammie is breaking down.

"Grammie!" Frank and me rush down to Grammie on the floor.

"Get away from me!" Grammie shouts at us, looking at me violently.

Frank and me stand up and walk back to our seats, staring at each other with a "What's going on?" look in our eyes.

"So, no ikelets?" Jamie whispers.
