Chapter 4
"So we're really gonna spar against Sting and Rogue?" Rebel asked Riot in a whispered tone. Riot chuckled, "Of course we are. All we have to do is beat them and we can finally make a name for our team." Silver scoffed, "You make it sound so easy. Even just a spar against your brother alone is enough to wipe out our entire team..."
Rebel nudged the raven haired boy, "Hey now, no need to be so negative, we might actually have a shot at this."
Nashi nodded in agreement, "How strong can our brothers even be? Sting Dragneel and Rogue Redfox are nothing other than over glorified pansies."
Riot nodded in agreement, casually slipping an arm around Nashi's shoulder. Rebel watched this interaction with raised eyebrows, her brother seemed to have been getting unusually brave.
She sighed in envy, when things got dangerous Riot always got brave and even arrogant, while Rebel became quiet and flooded with anxiety. This was an unusual trait considering that normally, Riot was timid and Rebel was brave, so their roles kinda switched and Rebel hated that more than anything.
"Calm down..." a soft voice whispered in Rebel's ear. She turned her slightly, her nose brushing against Silver's cheek, "I'm perfectly calm." She said, forcing a confident tone. "If you say so." Silver responded, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze.
"Okay so guys, our fight." Riot said, trying to get everyone's attention. "Ahuh?" Nashi asked, with a serious expression.
Once Riot was convinced he was given all the attention, he started, "So it's a fight between Rogue and Sting, a shadow dragon slayer and a light dragon slayer." "Amongst us, we have a Fire dragon slayer, an Iron dragon slayer, a semi iron dragon and an ice devil slayer." Silver added, nodding his head.
Rebel sighed, she hated being called a semi dragon slayer. Rebel's magic was an unusual mix of solid script and iron dragon slaying. Meaning she could write out "ROAR" and hit her enemy with Iron Dragon's Roar or she could write out "club" on her arm and it would turn into an iron beam. This was why she wasn't really considered a dragon slayer and she hated that.
"Strategy?" Nashi asked. "Simple, we attack fast and hard, don't give them room to breathe and show them which generation is better." Rebel almost choked, "THAT IS NOT A STRATEGY!" "Whoa Reb, calm down." Riot said, in a cool, collected tone that made her want to punch his front teeth out. "Don't you dare tell me to calm down! Have you never seen those two fight before? They're going to cream us if we go into battle with a 'strategy' like that!" "Rebel has a point.." Nashi added, clearly not happy with the plan. "Come on guys, it's not like we can come up with a flawless plan in ten minutes." Silver reasoned.
"Speaking of time, we should head out. They should be at the battle field already." Riot said, not fazed by the arguing.
"Fine." Rebel said, once again ignoring the bad feeling in the pit of her stomach.
"Let's go."

.
Riot stood across the battle field and glared at his brother. Rogue Redfox had a calm, cool smirk on his face, his hair partially covering his dark eyes and had his hands slipped casually into his pants pockets, clearly unphased by the battle that was about to begin.
Sting Dragneel stood next to Rogue, the perfect picture of pure arrogance. With his spikey blonde hair intentionally set to look like he just got out of bed and a smirk that reminded him of a panther, Riot couldn't hold back his snarl.
Rebel grabbed his arm, "Easy there, don't let them provoke you." She whispered, her eyes darting between the two.
"tch, yeah whatever." He said before shrugging away from her touch and taking up a battle stance.
From the corner of his eyes, he saw that the rest of his team did the same.
"Ready for your beat down?" Sting asked, cracking his knuckles.
"As if." Riot growled, before charging at him with his fist raised.
"Riot!" He heard Nashi shriek, but it was too late. Before he reached Sting, a large shadowy hand punched him in the face, sending him flying back. The moment before he was going to crash into the ground, a foot kicked him hard on his back, then on his stomach, making him crash into the ground and knocking the breath out of his body.
He sat up, crawling back to his feet just in time to watch Rebel get elbowed in the face, she flew back and crashed into Nashi, who already had a bleeding nose and cut lip.
"Damn it" Silver coughed, clutching his side and throwing a blast of ice at Sting, who blurred out of the way and appeared behind Silver, grabbing him by the neck and slamming him into the ground. Silver coughed blood and clawed at the hand on his throat, desperately trying to drag air into his lungs. Riot watched with wide eyes as Silver passed out.
Sting instantly released his grip, "Three down, one more to go."
Riot instinctively started to back away but before he could take a proper step, a hand connected with his jaw, sending him into the air. He crashed into the ground, getting a mouth full of dirt and groaned. It couldn't have been over so quickly, his brain couldn't keep up with what was happening.
He slowly lifted up his head, feeling light headed. His eyes focused on the under of the boot that was flying towards his face. He felt a splintering pain in the center of his face and everything turned a sickening black.
