I don't know where any of my parents are. But I do know something. Spirit's legs are hurt. I can't leave her. She's all I have right now and I won't let her die. I can't.
"All children inside that cave for protection!!" Time to go. I can make it if I dodge all the humans. Only a few are making it back there. It should be easy, even with carrying Spirit.
I pick her up and run. She's about half my size, but it doesn't matter. I'm just as determined to save her as these humans are to kill us. Maybe even more. All I know is that I HAVE to save her. No matter the cost.
I dodge a few human attacks until I near the cave. When it is in sight I see a human kill to 'monsters' that look similar to me. Once they turn to dust a child screams from inside the cave. Just as we enter she starts. It scares Spirit, but I try to remain calm to reassure Spirit. Thankfully it works.
I wish I could comfort that kid, but I have to tale care of Spirit first. That kid will have to wait. I'm almost certain those were her parents. She screamed like she had just lost everything dear to her. I'm screaming like that on the inside. I haven't seen our parents since this morning when the fighting started, and I thought they had Spirit. I couldn't bear to lose them all. At least I have Spirit. At least we have each other.
