It was a cool summer night; silence sweeping through the air into the darkness, not a sound in the air other than the quiet echoes of near cars driving down the highway a few miles back.

Hailey sat at the vanity placed in the center of the wall between her and Bree's beds, swiping the blush across her cheeks leaving the soft pink blush along her cheekbones, "hey Rayne?"

Rayne shifted on her bed onto her back facing the ceiling of old Christmas lights glowing white covering the walls, "yeah?" she asked with no emotion in the sound of her voice still looking at her phone.

There was a moment of silence that filled the room as Hailey looked at herself in the mirror as if observing a piece of art. Her long wavy hair hanging helplessly down her shoulders, the dark blue tank top hugging her body, and her dark brown eyes staring into the ones across her in the sheer glass reflection.

"Do you think Blake will ever notice me?"

"Of course he will"

Hailey broke the hold between her and the girl in the mirror and looked at Bree laying on the bed in her tie dye t-shirt and black gym shorts, her legs slung over the pile of blankets scattered at the end of the bed, and the white Christmas lights shading her face flawless from imperfections.

"Bree, He's my everything and he doesn't even know it, he doesn't even know I exist."

There was a sad tone in her voice that made Bree sit up on the bed and stare into the sad water draped eyes of her best friend, "Hailey, don't worry about it, you will meet him someday I promise, in the meantime ill cuddle with you" she said getting up and hugging Hailey making small giggles approach the room.

Bree sat back down at the bed and they just sat there observing each other for a few moments, then a small grin slowly crept up Hailey's face.

Bree looked at her and furrowed her eyebrows, "what?"

"So what's going on between you and Trever?" she asked as if waiting for a big romantic love story.

Bree looked at Hailey with furrowed eyebrows and a half gaped mouth and scrunched nose, "What are you even talking about, we're just friends."

Hailey just snorted, "Yeah right, he was seriously checking you out today, hugged you like thirty times, and to top it off, followed you everywhere, he's into you."

"No he's not, and even if he was, I have no interests in him." Bree retorted

They talked for hours until 12:00 A.M struck the clock in the hallway so they decided to talk in the morning.

Bree laid down in her bed letting her head lay low on her feather pillow and her quilt hover over her body leaving heat patches on her skin.

Hailey laid down too, laying on her back and looking at all the posters hanging along the teal walls and all the small art drawings and paintings Bree had made. Growing up Bree almost had all the talent, the looks, the voice, the eyes. she almost seemed unflawed in the yes of almost everyone, which always kept Hailey partially competitive. She was jealous, but never really admitted it, not even to herself.

She decided to push her thoughts away from her mind and went to sleep, letting the darkness and breeze devour her.
