"I used to go to the bookstore and buy lots and lots of books
and i would take them home and leave them in the corner of my bedroom
and sometimes it would be months or even years before I actually sat down and read them.
And you asked me why i would do that and i told you i liked having them around for when i needed them.
And you laughed and shook your head because you didn't understand,
which i found hard to believe because that's exactly what you did to me."
----
I sit on the balcony, slumped into a chair, pretending to understand the homework story in Lit when all that was in my mind was "Why isn't he texting me yet?"
I set a separate message tone for Kent, my boyfriend, so I know when he's the one texting me. And he is, he has been texting for quite some time now. But I didn't feel the need to reply. Just not yet.
It was another message tone I was waiting for, Alex's. We text everyday and night, but why didn't he text me this time? I was afraid it was because he wanted to distance himself because he knew I had a boyfriend. Why does he have to send me mixed signals? Is he distancing himself because he likes me? Or because he doesn't want to get into trouble? But why now? He knew I had a boyfriend even before we started to get close to each other. Why stop now? Alex could be the world's most unpredictable person.
Or maybe I'm thinking too much. Maybe he's busy with church, where he's an active member. Or maybe he didn't have enough credits to send a text. I hope so.
