Part One
"Royal Guard, Luce Gillian, the head of the Royal Guard requests your presence." Luce looked up from a book he was reading. "Ah! I'll be right there!" His armor clanked as he ran towards his superior's office. He knocked politely before barging in. "Enter." Luce opened the door and saw an old man, around 60, sitting at a desk writing a paper. "Have a seat." Luce nodded and sat in the chair in front of the desk. "I have a favor to request of you, soldier." "Yes sir!" "Recently there has been a guild of bounty hunters raising worries for the queen. They've gotten quite strong, she's afraid they might stage a coupe. Ever gone undercover?" Luce's lips parted. He knew what was being asked of him. He also knew that he was the only one his superior had asked, he was trusted with this mission. "No. But I can make it work." "Good. A source has explained where a recruiter will be tomorrow evening, be there. Location is the Driftwood Tavern. Rumors are their recruiting process is quite vigorous. So, do well."
Luce nodded and left the room. He walked towards his room. He entered and began to take off his armor. Luce set it all down in a pile and flopped down on his bed; closing his eyes slowly and thinking of one thing. That one thing was what happened 6 years ago. When he was 17. Luce sighed and opened his eyes. "Wonder what he's up to now..." Luce was speaking of the bounty hunter, Rowan. The one who was paid to kill him, but had spared him. Luce knew changing his life and accepting Rowan's offer to become a guard wouldn't repay him. He'd have to save Rowan's life, that's the only way, in Luce's eyes, that he could repay Rowan. Luce looked outside, it was dark already. "I could do something to keep me up, or I could sleep to pass time." Luce thought for a moment, then decided to fall asleep and sleep away until tomorrow.
Luce woke up with his brown hair in a total mess. His hair had grown since 6 years ago, well, of course it had, but he'd tried to keep it shorter then shoulder length. Messy bangs, and messy hair that was around 5 cm. He took a strand of hair and held it in front of his eyes and squinted them. "I need a hair cut..." Luce hopped up from his bed and went to go bathe. Since he had to wait until the evening to come, he had nothing to do all day. After taking bath, all he did was slip on casual clothes and a hid a few weapons in his outfit. For example, a knife in his right boot, a pistol in his bag, a knife in his jacket, and a knife hidden beneath his pants, a band sheathing it there. Luce walked out of his room in the Royal Guard Castle and went straight out onto the streets of Hiemdale. It was busy morning. As usual.
Luce stopped at a stand and bought a fresh looking apple and continued to walk around. He bit into it and turned down an alley. The alley was empty, the sound of the city drowned out his footsteps. Luce looked around real quick. No one was watching. He smirked and jumped diagonally to one wall, then pushed off of it to another, jumping exactly like that. He ended up at the top and dangling by one hand while chewing an apple in the other. "Well, this is a predicament." The apple was placed in his mouth and his teeth having a hard grip on it, his free hand stayed by his side. Luce flipped himself over the wall and onto the roof, rolling a bit once on. He got up and dusted himself off. His stroll continued by jumping from roof to roof while chewing an apple. Plenty of time to spare, he'd at least fool around for a while. While looking down at the bustling crowds, golden blonde hair caught his eye. He stumbled and almost fell off the edge of a roof. The person turned around as someone called to them.
Luce removed the apple from the mouth and sighed, it wasn't Elizabeth. The only reason he looked for her was to get his revenge. She had played him. He was nothing but a fool for thinking such a beautiful girl loved him, he looked average, how could someone like her ever love him. Luce jumped onto the roof across from him. He continued this until he got into an abandoned district, there had been a great plague there around 5 years ago, so no one dared go near there. Luce jumped onto a roof and heard a creak from the building. All of his movements stopped and his voice hitched in his throat. He looked down, the wood that made up the ceiling was old and rotting. "Oh s-!"
