[Ren]

I wake up from something, a harsh cold touch. When I had opened my eyes I saw Alice one of my best friends. The morning seemed cold, regular mornings in this town. I rubbed my eyes gently so that I wouldn't feel an irritation. I looked at her she was smiling with a very familiar face. Her fox ears and cat tails perked up. She was up to something. I whined, "Why did you wake me up? The sun hasn't completely risen yet. What's so important?"

She giggled, "Nothing really just needed to wake you up." My friends Alice,Jack and Elli were orphans. We didn't have much of a family except the four of us. So i cherished all of them but sometimes they can be annoying. We were all young, Alice being the oldest because her birthday landed on a February

I sighed, "Why couldn't you wake me up later?"

Alice grumbled, "Because everyone is hungry and we need you to go and cook the food."

I looked at her, she had her usual puppy eyes. Apparently I'm the cook of the family. I don't know why but they think my food is good. I yawned, "Fine but next time let me sleep a little more."

I went down to the kitchen of the inn. I knew the owners of the inn, they were fine with the four of us living there if we hadn't caused any commotion to others. I swiftly cooked porridge and soup. I sent myself to them and served my friends.

All of us chatted a bit about their dreams. Jack then muttered something to Elli.

Elli happily uttered, "That's a good idea. Hey Alice and Ren we should go to the forest!"

Alice said, "Jack aren't you scared of the forest?"

Jack shook his head, "No sis! What are you talking about." Alice, Elli and I laughed while Jack whimpered.

I told them, "That's a pretty good idea. Lets head out!"

We all took our stuff thinking what we could find at the forest again.

The forest always had a mysterious vibe to it. That's why it was always our favorite spot. I surveyed around the area. The forest had lots of items that elves threw away.

Jack yelled, "I found something!" In our curiosity all of us ran to Jack. What he found was ominous I could just feel darkness, dark clouds shrouding this raggedy old black and rusted chest. The chest wasn't what we were all interested in. What was inside is what made us think.

I let out a question, "Should we open it?"

Alice nodded, "We can only find what is inside if we open it."

I took the top of the chest and pushed it up hoping that it was unlocked. To my suprise it was. A book was inside. A black book that had a darker aura than the chest.

Elli frightfully said, "What could be inside that book?"

I opened the book, I felt the same cold touch that woke me. What was this? What am I feeling. My heart skipped a beat. I felt my blood rush, pumping vigorously as I saw the title. The Dark gods of this world. On the book blood marks stained the front page. Why was there blood marks? Why did it say The Dark Gods. Why am I getting this feeling?

Alice saw my eyes and she quickly closed the book. Alice sighed, "I think it's best if we just leave this book alone."

In the inn room I shivered and quaked. Why had I been so afraid. I've never been that afraid before. Who were the dark gods?

I then recalled a story that strangers told. Koru one of the dark gods fought Gin another dark god. Gin was said to be Koru's father's general. Legend has it Koru's father was the strongest dark god until he was defeated by many heroes. It's been said Gin is the 7th strongest Demon but is the most tactical and wisest Demon.

I couldn't recall anything but the name Gin seemed familiar. It was a famous name but he was said to be beaten by the hero Ren. I had gotten my name from that hero. Why was I named Ren? That question lingered into my mind.

The others were asleep. I couldn't sleep because of these questions. I took a deep sigh and walked out of the room. Alice stood there her eyes like the stars watching the the dark landscape.

"You can't sleep either?" Her soft voice spoke.

"Yeah I'm thinking about that book. It's haunting me." I look into her eyes, she too was also afraid. I take a deep breath. "Lets just forget about the book." I tell myself this but that was a lie. That book was attached to my mind now.

"Mhm.. yeah.." Alice brushed the window of the inn. She laid her arms on it staring into the light that shone in all darkness. A star and a moon staring.

That's all I could remember that night, the star and a moon staring.
