"Yoosung... Yoosung! Are you okay?! I'm coming in!" Zen managed to utter despite being barely able to catch his breath.
He'd run all the way from his work set to Yoosung's apartment, leaving behind a group of frantic directors and writers with the lights and cameras. Zen could care less about work now that he received a call from Yoosung, someone so precious to him, who was crying on the phone. Yoosung sounded very depressed and it was worrying for Zen. He was worried that Yoosung... might do something regretful.
At that thought, the anxiety struck Zen so hard that his heart and adrenaline couldn't stop pumping, all the way up to Yoosung's doorstep.
Zen unlocked the front door of Yoosung's apartment after entering the passcode. With his chest still heaving up and down, Zen headed straight for Yoosung's room.
There Yoosung lay on his bed, curled up with his hand clutching tightly onto his phone which had Rika's picture as the background wallpaper.
The wet spots on his pillowcase were indicative of the amount of tears it had absorbed —Yoosung was weeping softly, with occasional hiccuping. Something really bad must have happened to hit Yoosung this hard. Zen tentatively inched over to Yoosung's bed, and slowly sat on the edge. He began,
"Yoosung...? I'm here, Yoosung, don't worry. If I may ask... what happened? What caused you to break down like this? "
He was afraid to touch Yoosung, but he actually wanted so much to just pull him close to himself, lock him in his warm embrace, and kiss the tears away from his cheeks.
Yoosung's eyes were horribly red and swollen. He glanced at Zen at the foot of his bed, then slowly sat up on his bed. Zen instinctively came forward to help him up.
"It's okay... I can still... manage on my own. Thank you for coming, though. You don't know... how much I really appreciate it."
Yoosung muttered, his voice hoarse and raspy.
Zen's heart was broken. He couldn't bear to see Yoosung like that— tear-stricken, all helpless, and clearly depressed.
Zen pulled Yoosung into his arms. Zen wasn't sure if it actually happened, but he thought he saw Yoosung's lips curve up a little upon entering his embrace.Yoosung loved the warmth of Zen's embrace so much —it seemed like the only thing at this time that could offer him a sense of security and comfort.
"Rika... has left this world. V wouldn't tell me anything...... other than the fact that she's gone. I hate him so much! Why? Why wouldn't he tell me?!"
Yoosung burst into tears once again. The pain was too much for his heart to bear.
Even Zen was shocked at the suddenness of Rika's departure. Rika... killed herself?Zen could imagine the suffering that Yoosung was feeling— he knew how much Yoosung liked Rika, and how they were inseparable cousins when Rika was still alive. Zen even felt jealous of them at times.
"It's okay... calm down first, Yoosung. I feel really sorry about Rika's death too. Cry it out, you'll feel better. I'm here for you, alright? Just tell me if you need anything. I'll stay with you for as long as you want me to. " Zen tenderly stroked Yoosung's cheeks, brushing off the tears of grief and anger.
Yoosung looked up to lock eyes with Zen. It felt like it had been so long since he last felt loved —maybe it was because he missed Rika too much. Zen looked into the deep blue orbs brimming with tears. Yoosung almost looked like a puppy. Zen chuckled a little, and stroked his soft blonde hair.
"You're just like a cute puppy, yoosung! Ah... I'm sorry. I couldn't help it. I know your emotions aren't too well now. I... should've been more sensitive. " Zen looked apologetically at Yoosung.
