'How do I know you speak the truth?'

'We're your friends, you have to trust us.' Melanie is so dumb; I can't believe I thought she was smart. Does she really think we're still friends? I walk to the window, trying to ignore them.

'Brandi, what's wrong?' asks Ashley.

'Nothing that you need to know.'

'Brandi, don't act like this. If you're not gonna tell us what's wrong, we have no choice but to grab your book back', says Melanie. I see Chelsea staring at her, with fear in her eyes. I turn around, and walk slowly to Melanie.

'Make me.' She stands up and stares at me, while I try to protect my diary. These girls can't know what I did; they would ruin my life if they would find out.

'Guys, please don't fight. It's no big deal if we don't find out, right Ash?' says Chelsea.

'Yeah, maybe it's for the best if we stop talking about this.'

'If it wasn't a big deal, she would tell us', says Melanie.

'Maybe it's too hard to tell. We're not the right persons to make her tell us Mel', says Ashley. Melanie keeps staring at me, and I'm not gonna give up, never.

I slowly open my eyes, trying to catch my breath. My head hurts so much, and I see so much blood around me. I try to figure out what happened, but I don't even know my name anymore. I try to get up, but my legs won't work. I try to scream, but no voice is coming out of my mouth. I see a branch, and I try to throw it, hoping that some dog will come. But there is no one, I'm all alone. I've no idea what happened, I've no idea where I am and who I am. I know someone knocked me out, but whom? All of a sudden, I hear a dog bark. I see another branch, and I throw it in the direction the bark is coming from.

'No, Blacky, come here!'  I hear a woman scream, and the dog comes in my way. I wave to him, and he walks in my direction.

'Blacky, where are you going?' The woman walks through the bushes, and then she sees me.

'Oh my, are you okay?'  I nod, and she looks at my head.

'Did someone hit you?'  I nod again.

'Can you move?'  I shake my head, and she looks at me.

'Don't move, I'm gonna call for help.'  She runs away, and I hear her screaming for help. An older man comes after her, and he looks at me.

'Don't worry kid, I'm a doctor. We're gonna take you to the hospital.'  They lift me up, and bring me to his car. The woman and her dog are sitting in the back, while I sit in the front, trying to keep my eyes open.

'Brandi, this is ridiculous, what is so bad you can't tell us?' asks Melanie, still staring at me.

'It's none of your business.'

'It is if it's something bad.'

'And why is that? It may have happened many years ago.'

'So something did happen', says Melanie. Damn, she's good at this. Now I understand why she wants to become a police officer. I can't believe I've ever wanted to be friends with her. She's gonna ruin my whole life, and she's gonna find out what happened two years ago.

'I didn't say it was true, only that it could be.'

'Right and you think I believe that.' Ashley walks away, and Chelsea follows her.

'Where are you guys going?' asks Melanie.

'This is gonna take ages, we're leaving', says Ashley. I hear them walk down the stairs, and I feel relieved. Two gone, one to go. I look at Melanie.

'I suggest we stop for today, and continue tomorrow.' Melanie stares at me, and I see a frown on her forehead.

'Alright, but if you don't open the door tomorrow, I'm gonna break it.' She walks away, staring at me. I hear her walking down the stairs, and closing the door. I sit down on my chair, relieved. I'm saved for today. I know they won't stop until they found out what happened, but I can't tell them. No one knows what happened that day, and no one ever found him. And that's how I want to keep it. And I swear, that no one will find out, not as long as I live.
