Skylar's POV
I'm fucking pathetic.
Crying in front of Vance like that. He doesn't need my shit. He shouldn't deal with such a pathetic being like myself. I squeezed my steering wheel tighter, my knuckles turning white. Tears bubbled in my eyes again and I forced them away, blinking. I needed to drive, not cry.
After a ten minute drive back to my house, I sloppily pulled into the driveway, and got out quickly. Swinging my backpack over my shoulder and grabbing the house key out of my pocket. Once inside, I noticed some things were different.
First off, women's heels weren't in the entryway when I left. And second, men's business shoes weren't either. Distant chatter could be heard and I recognized it immediately. I shut the door softly.
"Skylar? Is that you honey?" My mother's sickening sweet voice trickled in from the kitchen. I shivered as she appeared. The she-devil herself.
"Hi..." I said awkwardly. Her green eyes we filled with excitement. Mother hugged me, as awkward and stupid the hug was. She was clad in a white dress. Her black hair cascaded in curls that framed her beautiful face.
My mother worked too much, along with my father. My mother (Terri) worked in the art industry, while my father (Tim) was her manager. I never saw them, like at all. They traveled around and left me behind. I didn't particularly mind, they were both self absorbed assholes that somehow called themselves parents.
I didn't want to be home either now. Not with my parents. I just couldn't stand their fake smiles and fake laughter and fake parenting. They just hated me, thought I was a bother to them. I could tell, not only do they talk about how much of an epic fail I am, they also talk to each other about how they could have traveled more when they were younger, but I was there, so they couldn't. They blame me.
Terri pulls back from the hug and gives me a once over. Her eyes became serious when she stopped on my face.
"What happened? You cried?" Her voice sounded brittle.
"Yeah, I did." I answered simply, it was better not to say no to them.
"Why?" She asked, her green eyes piercing mine.
"Give me a reason to tell you, Terri." I felt the words tumble out of my mouth automatically. Her eyes drew together and a frown pulled at her red lips.
"Skylar Liam Terrance, what did you just call me?" She sounded surprised, flabbergasted.
"I called you Terri, that is your name, isn't it?" I said, hatred seeping past my words. She stood up straight, and looked me over again. She looked confused, like I somehow wasn't suppose to say her name when she doesn't even deserve the title of being my mother.
"I just can't believe that you would disrespect me in such a manor." She said, I could feel the anger burning.
"Disrespect you? Is there even any thing you gave me to respect you in the first place?" I snapped. Her mouth hung open, words didn't spill past her lips. She was too shocked to do anything.
"Skylar Terrance, you better stop talking to your mother that way or you're getting your ass beat son, you hear me?" My father said, stepping into the room. He wore a formal suit, his dark brown hair was slicked back and a nasty glare adorned his face.
"I hear you loud and clear Tim." I said dryly. A glare was shot my way after my sentence.
"And you better not talk to me like that either." He said, them being here made me mad. Just by seeing their faces. Hearing their voices made me angry. I growled lowly.
