Two years had passed, and Hermione was now in her third year in Hogwarts. In those two years, Hermione had so many unbelievable adventures that strengthened her friendship with Harry and Ron. She had managed to help the two solve and discover things that were important to the wizarding world, like the philosopher's stone and the chamber of secrets. Harry knew that Ron and he wouldnt be able to discover certain things without her. He knew and acknowledged the fact that they both needed her.

While Hermione's friendship with Potter and Weasley strengthened, her friendship with Malfoy went to hell. He had hurt her multiple times in the years that passed by either calling her degrading names or mocking her. It hurt her a lot, which is why she decided to let him go, and move on from the friendship she thought they had. She started to spend a huge amount of time with either Ginny Weasley or the library when she was not with Harry or Ron.

Walking down into the forbidden forest with Ron, Harry, and a bunch of other Hogwarts students, Hermione clicked her tongue against her teeth when she heard Malfoy's voice behind them.

"Wait 'till my father hears that this oaf is teaching us," Malfoy sneered to his mates about Hagrid teaching them Care of Magical Creatures.

Hermione was about to turn around and defend Hagrid, but Harry beat her to it. "Shut up, Malfoy," Harry said.

Malfoy laughed at Harry's remark, approaching him. He feigned a scared face while yelling," Dementor! Dementor!"

Everyone turned to look where Malfoy was pointing. He broke into laughter with his friends and mocked Harry, causing Hermione to drag Potter away before he could do anything. She pulled him away, making a face at Malfoy while she tried to resist the urge to punch him.

Malfoy smirked as she walked away with Potter, feeling triumphant that he was able to get under her skin. But because of his filled thoughts, Malfoy did not notice that one of his best mates, Blaise Zabini, was eyeing Hermione as well.

"Okay now! Attention o'er here!" Hagrid yelled as he brought a beautiful, yet scary creature before them all. It looked like a horse, eagle, and other animals merged together. It held a powerful aura, which made all the students cower. Hagrid made sure to guide the creature feet away from the students to ensure their safety.

"This 'ere is Buckbeak," Hagrid introduced. He explained more about the creature and asked for any student volunteer to approach it. Everyone took a step back, except Harry.

" ah! 'Arry!" Hagrid smiled." Come on then!"

Harry, confused, turned around to see Hermione and Ron sheepishly smiling at him. Groaning silently, Harry approached Hagrid, making sure to leave an abundant space between him and the creature.

While Hagrid explained to Harry what he should do in order to get close to the magical beast, Malfoy stepped forward to get a better look, making him stand beside Hermione. His shoulders lightly bumped with hers, causing her to glance at him. Hermione, nonetheless, turned her head back to watch Harry, clearing her throat when her nose was invaded with the familiar scent of mint and arrogance that belonged to Draco.

Hermione gasped when Buckbeak suddenly approached Harry, absentmindedly grabbing somebody's arm. Her eyes widened as she looked at her hands, which were wrapped around Ron's arm. She hurriedly removed her hands from his arm and looked away from him. Ron cleared his throat and avoided her gaze as well.

Muttering something under his breath, Malfoy rolled his eyes. Raising her brows, Hermione said," wanna say that louder, Malfoy?"

"How dare you talk to me, you filthy little mudblood?" Malfoy sneered before he could think of what he said.
