We live here for two years now, when we moved, the black house was already occupied however they never really seemed to want to welcome us. I tried once to come over and invite them for a dinner so we could get to know each other but it was really uncomfortable, since the woman simply looked at me and said to stay away. She looked very tired that day, red eyes, dark shades under them, and their garden gosh.... it looked like hell. I find it however, a pity, since the house is extemely beautiful. Ever since I never tried to speak with the couple, they were clear since the beginning about their intentions so I couldn't exactly do something against it.

We've got to respect people, and they don't actually bother us either so it just feels wrong to pressure them.

I spend a lot of time in our living room, which is absolutely lovely, quite big and artistic, just how I like. It's panted in light green which gives the room life and a sense of peace and happiness, but the thing I like the most is our fireplace.

I have painted it so many times and still don't feel tired of it.
Thinking about it, it's just not the fireplace that I seem to never be tired of, but the whole house, choosing this house was definitely the one of the best choices of my life.

My neighbours house is something I would love to paint, but I don't think they would enjoy it, I do have some luck to sell my painting so if they found it out I think they would be pretty upset.

Today was just like the others, I worked in the morning and by 3 started to paint again in my lovely house.

Taking a deep breath, I finally decided to eat dinner, a salad would be fine. I started doing it, washing the lettuce and cutting it on smaller pieces.

Tack...Tack...Tack...

"Wha the-"

Tack...Tack...Tack...

As I was preparing my dinner I couldn't but notice the enerving sound that I could hear from the living room, just like soft footsteps.
Or maybe it's just my imagination.
Ignoring it, I continue doing my dinner, taking the carrots out the freezer but the sound comes out again.

Tack...Tack...Tack

Now, I know this is definitely not from my imagination. I started feeling a little uneasy since I never ever heard sounds in my house before, something was wrong, I could feel it.

I decided to ignore it again, cutting the carrots as well, maybe I am exaggerating a bit, there is no need to panic.

However, when I was almost feeling calm again, I feel a breeze and I could swear I had everything closed.

Please, please tell me there is no one but me in here...

Grabbing a knife, I started looking around, call me crazy but security always first. Should I ask if someone's there? No, no that seems stupid, you should never follow horror movies in real life examples if you care about your life.

"Why are you holding a knife? Are you afraid of something?" I hear someone from behind me making me turn around ready to use the knife but I suddenly stooped. It was a kid, a little weird kid, around eight I swear. He was petite, blond, and his clothes were dirty, poor mum, she might spend a lot of time to try to take away those stains.

"What-what are you doing here? How did you get in?" This made him smile sweetly at me.

"Your front door was opened." no, no it wasn't, I was sure of it. "I was feeling bored so I decided to get in. You have a pretty house, it's not scary like mine."

"Oh. Thank you... aren't your parents worried kiddo? It is late and dark outside, we should get you home." He looked uncomfortable, like he rather be with me than at home.

"There is no need for it." He simply answered "My parents are not home so I rather hung out here, I really really like your house."

"And where are your parents then? Have they left you alone?" Alright this is quite irresponsible from them, this kid is almost a baby, he does not have maturity enough to stay alone like this.

"They went out, somewhere I don't know, with the wolves. They do it all the time, and sometimes they stay away from home for like a week? But if they do they leave some of the wolves behind, to protect us, you know? We always have to be with a wolf." He says while getting comfortable at my couch "I am not alone though, my older brother is at home. Hey, can I sleep here tonight?"

"Wait, what? But...what about you're brother? We've to get you home!"

He gave me a weird smile.

"Don't you worry, he won't even notice, plus one of my wolves is outside, in your front door, to protect us. Oh,and by the way my name is Ansel. Nice to meet to Hazel."

An by that he feel asleep.

Wait, protect us?
Protect from what.
I started laughing, kids have a wonderful imagination and this kid is unbelievable...

I think he can crush here tonight, hopefully his brother won't notice. I really hope this kid's right....

On the other hand... how the he'll did he get in? I know I had everything locked. I did, did I?
