Summer...

After my first day of school, I began to walk to my car, Kenzie and her friends following me.

"Wait!" Kenzie suddenly grabbed my arm and turned my around.

"Do you live on Docker Road? House number 54?" Kenzie asked, her eyes lighting up.

"Uh yah, why?" I questioned and she shrieked, me covering my ears.

"Neighbors!" She said happily and beamed at me. I instantly felt a smile creep in my face. Even though I assumed it after finding out Ryder was the boy in the window.

"Cool." I replied, continuing to my car.

"Come over when we get home. We can watch some movies and just have a girls night. You can sleepover too! It is Friday after all. You joined our school on the perfect day..." Kenzie began to ramble and I slapped my hand over her mouth.

"Okay. I got it." I giggled as I spoke and her and her friends laughed as well.

I completely forgot her friends names but could just relearn them on Monday.

I waved to Kenzie as she walked away and turned back around to my car. I opened my door and slid into my car, starting it up and driving out of the parking lot.

The route to and from school was pretty simple so I didn't have to worry about getting lost.

When I reached my drive way, I saw Kenzie pulling in as well. There was a motorcycle in their driveway and I just assumed it was Ryder's.

That's hot.

A voice in the back of my mind said and I shook my head to rid my strange thoughts.

I walked in through my front door and launched my backpack into the living room.

"Sash! I'll be next door if you need me!" I scream throughout the house and then walked back outside to see Kenzie waiting on her front doorstep for me.

I crossed over the small patch of grass between our driveways and met her at her door.

"Ignore Ryder. He'll probably try to bother us to be annoying but hey, I guess that's what brothers are for right?" She laughed.

"I guess. I mean I don't have a brother but I imagine it's not that different from an older sister." I responded, shrugging my shoulder.

"Oh we have one of those too. Her name is Rachel. She moved out with her boyfriend last month. It was about time. She is 23 after all." Kenzie ended with a roll of her eyes.

I giggled lightly as I followed Kenzie into the basement where she said she had the largest tv in the house.

When I got to the bottom of the stairs, I saw what she was talking about. By tv, she meant white sheet with a projector in the back of the room.

"Woah." I breathed out and she chuckled.

"Yah, perfect room for movies and sleepovers. She then pointed to a closet near the projector.

"That closet's full of pillows and blankets and bean bags and all sorts of comfy things that we spread across the floor to sleep on. Popcorn machine, mini fridge, and pantries with movie theatre candies and snacks." She said as she pointed to whatever she was talking about next.

"You're so lucky. I would love to have this room in my basement." I laughed and Kenzie went over to the projector.

"Well, you can come over pretty much whenever you want."

I smiled at her and opened the closet to get all the things to spread across the floor.

After I put all the pillows and stuff down I went to get a wrinkle out of the white sheet when I heard the basement door open the close.

Then footsteps were pounding down to stairs.

I looked up to see Ryder on the last step.

"We're gonna watch 'The Longest Yard'. Ryder said as he tossed something over to Kenzie. She rolled her eyes but put it into the projector nonetheless.

Ryder then turned around and his eyes widened when he saw me, like he didn't know I was there.

"Oh hi Summer." He said as he launched himself into the floor, landing smack on one of the beanbags.

"Alright cmon, Summer you can be in the middle." Kenzie said as she pulled the beanbag out from under her brother. He hit the carpet beneath and glared at Kenzie who just laughed.

I nodded and plopped down in between the twins. The movie began to play and I snuggled up into the blanket.

When the movie got to the point of the final football game, I found myself drifting off to sleep. I leaned to my right as my eyes fluttered shut. Something draped over my shoulder but I was already falling asleep.

I woke up to an annoying clicking noise and I opened my eyes to see Kenzie standing in front of me with a camera and she was taking pictures of me.

"You're a creep." I told her and she just shrugged.

"But you're adorable." She replied and I furrowed my eyebrows.

That's when I realized there was something weighing down on my stomach and I snapped my eyes to see Ryder's arm over my stomach. He was sleeping with his arm over me.

I found myself screaming as an instant reaction and Ryder jumped up, making me jump and the position we ended in wasn't rather flattering.

I ended up on top of him with our faces mere centimeters apart. I was frozen still.

Then Ryder leaned up and placed his lips on mine.

I reflexively flung backwards, my feet slamming into the white sheet.

Ryder also launched upwards at the sudden outburst and put his face in his hands.

"I...I'm..." I stuttered, biting my lip and maki g eye contact with a wide eyed Kenzie.

Ryder was half smirking, half looking guilty as he slowly looked back at me.

Kenzie awkwardly lowered her camera and cleared her throat.

"Summer," Ryder stammered as his gaze locked with mine. "Be my girlfriend."

My mind instantly clouded as I thought of my messed up previous relationship.

Then the voice came back.

He's different. Give him a chance.

And something else told me she was right.

"Yes."
