"Sorry I'm late" Oz strode into the room and over to the circle of people in the middle. He gave a quick grin to the girls sitting to the left and they all needed a moment to sit down and wash off the awesomeness Oz had just hit them with. He didn't even need a white suit, his good looks was unbreakable and never failed. He pulled out a rose to the closest girl and kissed her hand lightly. "I'll never forget out last meeting" he left her blushing in her chair.
Then he walked over to his beautiful teacher, raised her hand and-
"Oz!"
Huh?
...
A bit confused he dropped his hand and snapped out of his daydreaming. The teacher gave him an annoyed look. The male teacher.
Ow, that's just great!
All the other girls giggled.
Oh, man. This must be the worst parent-teacher conference ever!
He heard a deep chuckle beside him. His uncle Oscar.
"Even you couldn't wake me up?" he whispered through his teeth, embarrassed by himself and for the lack of sleep he had had. It was hard enough to walk with your foot in cast, but all this homework...
But even Oz knew this wasn't true. He'd been up late last night reading the newest edition of his favorite trilogy. He'd waited so long, promising himself he'd read the book before watching the movie. He awoke suddenly next morning by the sound of flapping wings over his head and noticed he had been sleeping on the open page with his black crow, Gil, resting on his back.
"Why uncle Oscar, why didn't you wake me?!" he moaned.
But his uncle only gave him a smug smile "Oh, no. I couldn't possibly. It was far too much fun seeing where this was going".
The teacher, a bit annoyed at the delay everyone had made, talking amongst themselves and laughing at Oz, cleared his throat and continued the conversation. Meanwhile Oz tried himself tried his best to keep up, but felt he couldn't. If only something would wake him up...properly this time.
He stared out of the window and down at the gloomy parking lot outside. It had started raining, and drops of water washed away the sight of the schoolyard -almost like spilling water on a painting, Oz mumbled to himself.
Undisturbed he steeled himself by halfly listening to the teacher and halfly staring out the window.
I'm no good with these things. Everyone knows that. When I grow up I wanna do stuff, not just sit in circles to talk.
A loud crash made him jump.
He looked around himself. Noone else seemed to have noticed.
Maybe he had dreamt it?
He counted to ten inside his head to see if anything more were to happen, but as it turns out it was probably just someone bumping into a chair. Annoyed with himself he tried to continue his daydreaming. [But now his uncle gave him a look and Oz quickly straitened up in the chair.]
Slowly, coming out from the corner of his eye he noticed a small pile of leafs on the floor shivering on the ground. His eyes blinked in amusement as they crept against the cold floor. They looked like leafs. Or maybe he was wrong. It had a rounder shape and a thin surface. Like a flat waterdrop. Shining on both sides in back and brown. Was it a shell? Were shells even black, Oz wondered. As if drawn in by an invisible force he only had eyes on the strange thing on the floor when suddenly it was being dragged out of the room by a swift breeze.
