Chapter 1- The Beguinning

"Ok, pass the coke!"
"No! Get it yourself!"
"Here, Ella"
"Thanks May"
The girls sat round in a circle. Ella nearest the door to the old, broken down barn, they discovered at the beginning of the school year.
"Let's play! Hit me," Autumn looked to Courtney for the drinks. "I'll start. Katie, truth or dare?"
"I don't really wanna play" mumbled Katie, unsure of the consequences that would follow.
"Oh come on Kate. We know you want to!"

Kate raised her eyes to the sky and muttered, "Fine."

Autumn layed down on her flat stomach, hair falling across her face. "Okay, Kate. Truth or dare?" Her eyes flashed wickedly, a sparkle of understandment dancing in her pupils.

Kate looked worried and indignant as she sipped her coke. "Um... truth."

Courtney looked on eagerly, a bowl of popcorn in hand.

"Who do you fancy?"

Autumn's words came out in a garbled nonsense.

"Lucas," Kate stared at her feet, unsmiling.

The girls lapsed into giggles. "Knew it!" declared Courtney and May in unison.

Kate blushed, glaring at Autumn. "Truth or dare?"

Autumn smirked. "Dare."

"Okay," Kate thought furiously, thinking of a dare that would make them see her in a different light. "Hide away from us until morning."

Autumn's eyes flew open. "What? No!"

Courtney and May made clucking noises, hair a mess.

Autumn stood up, huffing. "Alright, you win, Kate," she hissed. "I'm taking a can of coke and some food. Oh, and a blanket."

She gathered her things, and stalked off into the night. The girls stared after her in astonishment. A few minuets went by where no one said a word. Then, laughter and excited whispers followed, filling the silence. Autumn heard it all, and walked away, until she couldn't hear the laughter at all.

The girls woke the next morning and found that Autumn hadn't returned.

They searched everywhere, even phoning her parents, who said she wasn't there.

The police got involved.

They found her belongings dumped by a tree in the woods.

And Autumn? They never found her body.

She was in the gone.
