I stared at the book in her hands as the teacher blabbed on about Russia. For twenty minutes now I had been trying discern the title after seeing her blank, far-off look from the corner of my eye. It was certainly more interesting than listening to the teacher. But she would only barely lift the book off the desk as she shifted and I couldn't figure it out! All I had seen so far was the word "The".
I didn't know her name but knew she was new here. I hadn't seen her before and it was already November. I studied her. She had amazing blond curls pulled into a thick ponytail, dark thick lashes that covered her eyes as she read, a California tan, and a slightly muscular athletic build.
"-you not?!?" The girl whispered annoyed breaking me out of my thoughts. I was startled, the girl was glaring at me. Her glaring eyes chilled me to the bone, her thick lashes had been covering piercing gray eyes. I quickly recovered from my surprise. Realizing I was staring at her I blushed and formed away. Out of the corner of my eye I saw her roll her eyes and continue reading like nothing had happened.
Finally the teacher stopped talking and started handing out a short essay prompt assignment about Communism and gave us the rest of the class period to finish. I looked down and sighed in frustration as the words on the page swam in lazy circles as i attempted to read the prompt. For the rest of the class I struggled to finish the short writing piece as my Dyslexia acted up. Finally I finished and turned in the paper just as the bell rang. I got my stuff and left the dull classroom behind.
'Finally, lunch!' I thought in anticipation as my stomach growled.
