I put on my uniform and put on my socks and my school shoes, then snatched my iPad and lanyard. I ran down the stairs to eat my breakfast.
"Good morning!" My mom said cheerfully. I picked up my fork, stuffing my mouth with scrambled eggs.
"Hi," I murmured. I was actually pretty excited, which was surprising. I mean, first day of high school, heck yeah!
I gobbled up my food then jumped off of the chair. I ran towards the bathroom to brush my teeth. After that, I grabbed the brush and tied my hair up into a braid.
"I'm ready!" I waited for my brother to get his backpack, as I had already gotten mine. He slowly grabbed it and walked out the door. He was clearly not as enthusiastic as I was to start school. I sped out the door after him, hopped into the front seat, tucking my skirt under me, and leaned back. I was surely ready to meet new friends and see my old ones!
My mom drove past my piano classes building and towards the bus stop to drop my brother off. It took about ten minutes to get there, and when we got there, my brother waited in the car for the bus to stop. I got irritated- I mean, I had to go to school too! Could he not just get off and wait for the bus outside?
The bus finally arrived, so my brother kissed my mother goodbye, and opened the door.
"Bye Liam," I called after him.
"Bye," he grunted. He slammed the door shut and walked towards the bus. He hopped on, and my mother started to drive me towards my school; only a few minutes and I'd be there!
Our car pulled up at the entrance, and I started to get even more excited. We reached the guard, and my mom pulled down her window. He instantly looked over at me and looked for my school ID card.
I noticed he was searching for it, grabbed it, and held it up. He nodded and said, "You may pass."
My mom drove in, and my dad smiled. As soon as she pulled over, I grabbed my iPad, lunchbox, and backpack and ran over to the school entrance. I paused, ran back, hugged my parents, and left. They smiled and drove back to the house.
I observed the school again before stopping at the entrance. I help up my ID to the teacher standing at the school entrance, then spotted my two friends from middle school.
"Connie! April!"
I ran over to them. They were standing next to another girl I recognized; Georgia. I remembered that they had told me about this girl that was with them in the first two years of middle school but then moved away.
"Hi!" Connie was the first to greet me. She ran over to me and swung her arms around me. I smiled. I had missed them.
"Idna!" April grinned, joining the hug. Georgia waited. We weren't really friends. Just acquaintances. I messed up Connie's hipster hair due. She stuck her tongue out at me.
"You really look hipster," April commented, staring at her hair. Connie scoffed. "Well, you look boring."
I laughed. This year sure was going to be fun.
