It was Saturday afternoon.

I should be practicing for my up coming piano lesson but the house party Ray told me about is going down tonight.

I picked up the phone while I had the text book he left his number on laid out in front of me.

I started dialling.

As the phone rang I started griping the phone wire anxiously.

"Hello."

I hear a woman's voice. Sounded like his mom.

"Hi... is Ray home?"

"Yeah he is. Who is this?" She asks with attitude.

It made me nervous.

"... This is Lisa. I'm his... lab partner. I'm just calling to ask him about something related to the project we're working on."

"Mmmm I see... RAAAAAAAAAAY!" She shouts making me jump.

"GETCHYO ASS OVER HERE! You got a girl callin you."

I felt foolish for calling.

He did give me his number so he had to have expected my call.

"Hello?"

"Hey Ray. It's Lisa."

"Lisa. Hey."

"Don't worry, I told your mom I was your lab partner."

"Thanks."

There was an awkward silence.

"Well... You told me to call you remember?"

"Yeah I did. I didn't think you'd call.

"What made you think that?"

"I don't know. It took you a long time. I thought you weren't interested."

"Sorry. I just thought I'd call you on the day of the party. Umm ... Did you already ask someone?"

"No. No. I'm glad you called. Well it starts at 7pm. I'll pick you up at 9pm?"

"But you said it starts at 7."

He chuckles.

"Yeah but it's a house party. No one comes on time. It gets lit later."

"Oh."

"You've never been to a house party have you?"

"No."

"I'm glad I'll be the first guy taking you to one."

"Okay. Well, can't wait."

"See you."

"You too. Bye."

I have nothing to wear.

I decided to call Emma. Maybe she's got some dresses.

"Hello?"

"Emma?"

"Yeah. Who's this?"

"Its ... Lisa."

"Oh hey! What's up?"

"I was just wondering. I don't have anything to wear for the house party later tonight."

"Oh I got you. Come over. I've got something that I think you'll like."

"Okay! What's you're address?"
