Kirsten’s POV
I wake up the next morning with dried tears on my cheek. My mind goes around all the events of yesterday. Yet all I can think is what happened. I mean, how it all happened. What happened to my perfect family? How could my parents have gotten into so much trouble? All I want to know is what happened that night. I know it’s probably traumatizing but I think I deserve to know.
I sit up from my make-shift bed of coach pillows and blankets and see and empty room. I mean I was pretty hazy yesterday but I’m sure the guys were in this room. I jump up scared something happened, like that Stefan guy got them and is now after me.
I quickly search around the 13 by 13 room to find something to protect myself with. All I can find is a toilet plunger, but hey, you take what you can get. I hold it up like I’m about to attack someone when I hear the door knob twist. I hide behind the sink and wait for my attacker to walk in. the door is slowly pushed open and I see a foot step in to hold it open. I immediately jump up and run toward the door, jamming the foot against the door and the wall.
“AHHHHH! KIRSTEN WHAT THE FUCK!”
I sigh when I realize that it’s just Jackson. Then I realize I’m still crushing his foot.
“OH! Crap I’m so sorry! I thought you were Stefan.” I pull the door open to see about 5 boxes behind him and Becker holding 2 more.
“What is all this stuff?” I ask.
“We robbed a cardboard box factory.” Becker said with a smirk.
Jackson just looked at him with that “seriously?” look and says, “It’s all your stuff. We stopped by your aunts while she was out and got it.”
“Well don’t you think she will notice?”
“There is also a note from you saying your parents are flying you back unexpectedly.”
“And you expect all that stuff to fit in here?” I say opening my arms to show how small the room is.
“No, we are just keeping it here while we find an apartment.”
“And when is that going to happen?”
“As a matter of fact, we,” he says motioning the both us, “are going right now.”
“And what about that?” I say, arms crossed nodding my head toward the piece of douche that is Becker Whaterver-his-last-name-is.
“I am staying here watching all your shit. I mean what is all this crap? Tampons and diaries?”
“Jesus Christ Becker! Can you ever not be an asshole?!?! Let’s just go Kirsten”
He grabs my arm and I follow him down the stairs and outside, my first time outside since they found me. The sun burns my eyes at first. I look back at the building and see it’s an abandoned apartment place. I’ve passed it so many times walking through town. And now I know why it’s abandoned.
“Where to first?” I say grabbing his arm, feeling safe.
“3rd and Seaton.”
“Oh that’s right up the block.”
We walk for a little and then arrive at this huge place. All though gorgeous, it looks a little haunted.
“Hi! You must be Jackson! I’m Sarah, the real estate agent” a very perky voice greeted us at the lobby of the building.
“Well just follow me and I will show you around.”
We followed her into the elevator and went all the way to the top floor. She walked down the hall and at the very end was a 3 bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. We walk in to be greeted by a cold breeze and the whisper of the wind.
