The tears fall freely down my face as I watch the life drain from his eyes. He was the only one who understood me. The only one who took me for who I was.

A sob loud enough to draw their attention away from his body rips from my throat as I realize that I am now utterly alone.

The creatures quickly look in my direction and I can tell by the look in their dead eyes that they forgot about me until I alerted them to my presence once again.

Quickly, before I can even blink, one of them is behind me. Their stench wafts in my direction. I push back my revulsion as I feel the points of their fangs, the same fangs that killed my love just minutes ago.

Before the fangs can penetrate my skin, I hear my name being called over and over. As the pressure of the fangs start to break skin, I quickly lose sight and feel of everything.

I quickly sit up in my bed. Both my hands wrapped around my neck as if to protect it from the monsters that attacked me.

"Oh," the panic and confusion is evident in my voice as I quickly search my room for the monsters my shoulders slump in relief and fear, "it was just a dream."
