It was a cold winter evening and Spencer was alone in her apartment . It was almost New Years and she was hoping he'd be back soon, it was raining although it was always raining in London. She was glancing at a few pictures from her mothers wedding on her computer making simple notes of what she wanted and what she didn't want, more things of what she didn't want them what she wanted of course . After all she was the picky one she wanted everything perfect to a t it all had to be amazing . The marvelous couple was engaged of course , she was graduating college in about a month and a half . The fight for valedictorian was still up , but she had kept all A's throughout her four years in school and was hoping to get into med school . The door opened suddenly startling her from her thoughts , she looked up to see a soaking Toby and flowers and a bag . She chuckled as she walked over to her fiancé she couldn't help but smile at his messy hair that had grown out , since the being a cop days were now over .
"Oh baby what'd you get yourself into this time ?" Spencer chuckled wrapping her arms around him and placing a kiss on his lips , his arm gracefully went around her thin body hugging her tightly and holding her at her waist
He planted a kiss on her forehead "I wanted to get you something nice , so I went out and it's madhouse downtown." He chuckled he never understood why she fell in London until he came himself. He had only been here for a few months and never wanted to look back , being without her all those nights felt like forever but being with her now also felt like forever .
Her eyes stared with amazement and wonder as she looked in his icy blue eyes , every-time she looked at them she fell in love with him all over . He was always going be her first and only love no matter what life throws at them she knew they could withstand it together, they'd already been through so much it was a shocker to many people they met along the way that they were still together . Even more so engaged but a love like that you just can't give up .
He kissed her placing his softly lips on hers his hand went to her cheek holding it soft but firm , just his touch made a shiver run through her back . Just his touch made butterflies in her stomach , just his touch made everything all right.
the night was filled with laughter and cuddles on the couch while enjoying some Chinese takeout from around the block . The blankets weren't keeping her warm the love in her heart and soul that he made shine was enough to radiate the whole place with warmth . She dozed off softly and peacefully , she was in his warm arms and he picked her up . She shifted only to kiss his lips one more time . He placed her in the soft bed and tucked her in before climbing in bed himself and snuggling up to her , taking one last look at her beautiful face before closing his eyes and dozing off into a light sleep
The wee hours of the morning came and Spencer was wide away at 3 , she slipped out of bed waking early . Grabbing her laptop her journal a pen and turning the tv on for some mindless sound , she started to make a guest list for the wedding . She wanted it small , nothing overly fancy , nothing to bring attention to brag , nothing the Hastings would want . They hadn't been engaged for long and the minute she told her mother things went south , she wanted her daughter to have a big wedding nothing small it had to be fancy and of course in rosewood so she could boast about her daughter . Spencer never having the courage to step up to her mother finally did and the relationship had been rock ever since .
She was on her 6th cup of coffee half an hour later when Toby walked down the steps ans looked half asleep .
"Love what are you doing sweetheart it's almost 4 am ." He chuckled a bit stumbling and came and sat next to her
She squeezed his hand , she was stressed she felt pressured , she wanted everything to be right , everything to be perfect . She held her breath for a few seconds before exhaling to keep from crying. But he knew her all to well
He kissed her and picked up the hand she was writing with gently letting her drop the pen he shut of her laptop and placed the stuff neatly on the coffee table "you need to stop stressing love , it's all going be okay? We take it bit by bit ? Piece by piece ." He stroked her hair and she nodded. She was stressed she had exams everywhere and a wedding to plan buy it was natural for her to bed stressed .
He made some tea to relax the adrenaline that was running through her body and had her take some sleep aid , she surprisingly didn't fight back , she let it go . She took a deep breath and let him take over .
Her tears filled her eyes and she cried in his arms .it was minutes before her soft voice filled the space "I don't want to mess us up , I don't want to ruin us . I wanted to make this perfect I want to make us stronger . I can't loose you , I don't want to loose you and -and I'm not going to brown ."
That's when he realized she didn't get into brown this is what it was about , she seemed off all night . She was distant in a land of her own , her dreams were crushed. He kissed her head stroking her soft auburn curls . She smelled like a freshly watered dahlia or maybe even a water lily.
He kissed her head "hey , hey brown is just another school okay ? Your going get I yo the best school besides you have had great grades all 4 years and there was 10 spots out of thousands of people and for you to even be chose to be an applicant is amazing ." He whispered "and I'm still proud of you and I still love you the same I always will ." He kissed her cheek.
She knew she could get through this but she was blindsided by everything that was happening she felt almost as if bits and pieces of her life was crumbling up ,but as long as she had Toby she could manage to make things alright .
