You sit in your cell, starving and cold. It has been approximately twelve days since you've seen the light of day. Or your love, Kurt Wagner, who is now working as a servant.

Kurt had been sneaking to the edge of his camp to see you, and you were sneaking to the edge of yours.

One unfortunate day, the two of you were caught. You could have been looked over, but you had forgotten come in disguise that morning.

With Kurt in his uniform, he was easily identified as a mutant and fighter for the X-Men. You were identifiable by the bright white tattoos across your brown skin. Only mutant warriors with T'Challa wore such a symbol with pride. And your union is forbidden. You're enemies, at war with one another.

Upon being seen together, you have been imprisoned and tortured and Kurt has been beaten and given the title of a servant.

Early in the morning, you're being pulled out of your cell by an elderly man. He tends to your blistering and still bleeding wounds and feeds you bread and water.

"Who are you?" You croak, barely audible as you scarf down the meal he's given you.

"I am the pastor. I have been travelling with the X-Men, but seeing how badly you are beaten and the beautiful designs painted onto your skin, I am going to assume that you are an alleged enemy?" Now you just nod weakly, unable to speak anymore.
The pain from the alcohol used to clean your wounds is nearly unbearable.

"So you are Kurt Wagner's partner. I will tell you what I told him. These people here can not help you. Call on the Lord, Y/N. He will get you out of this situation. You and Kurt both. Don't let anyone know I came to see you, for it would only cause trouble for you. God bless."

With a kiss planted on your forehead, you are placed back in your cell. As you sit down, you fold your hands and bow your head, "Um, hi. I don't really know what you'd like for me to call you. But - I - okay, God, I need your help.

"I know I don't really deserve it. I know I've stolen, and fought, and cursed, and killed. I promise, I'll stop all of it, please, let me and Kurt make it out of this alive and together.

"If not for me, please do it for him. He's a good, honest man that loves you and doesn't deserve to be beaten. Please God, I'm begging. Help us."

The mutants on guard duty go to check on Kurt in his shackles, only to find he isn't there. Immediately, Charles goes into an uncharacteristic rage. "Are you telling me, that one of our most advanced mutants - who is being punished, by the way - was left unattended, and is now loose? Where he can free our captive and probably let her kill us all! I hope that isn't what you're telling me."

The X-Men present cower and shiver. No one is brave enough to actually say anything. And the one man who was has gotten loose.

Charles takes a couple deep breaths and smooths down his unruly mane, "Because if that's what you're telling me. Heads will roll. Whether it's by my will, or the beast Kurt is no doubt looking for."

As you're counting the amount of breaths you take, a plate of food is slipped into your cell. On top of the luxurious meat and vegetables is a note.

MEET ME IN THE WOODS. WAIT FOR MY SIGNAL.
-Kurt

You can't help but smile as you eat and read the note over and over. You're cold, in pain, and smell like death, but Kurt is free and safe, and that makes it worthwhile.

Around ten minutes after you finish filling your belly, you hear your cell unlock. Pushing the door open slowly, you see a guard bound and gagged in front of the door.

Smiling at him, you jump over his body and run as fast as your gashed and bare feet can carry you. When you step foot into the woods, you're snatched up into a hug.

You turn in the strong arms and smile at Kurt. You're actually so happy that you begin to sob. Just letting your emotions run a little crazy, you stay like that for a while as Kurt carries you farther into the flourish of trees.

By now it is nightfall and there are mutants from both sides searching for you and you blue companion. Earlier in the day, you had bathed in the river so that your putrid scent wouldn't give you away.

"Come, Y/N, I will take you wherever you want. We can go somewhere where no one knows us. We could start over! We could be together." Kurt says, grasping onto your forearms.

There is a burning fire in the pit of your belly that wants you to destroy the people who tortured and beat you, but when you look at Kurt, with his blue pigmentation and tendency to care deeply about others, that rage dies very quickly. Because having Kurt by your side, that was all you'd asked for.

So with a nod and a quick kiss, you wrap your arms around Kurt, but not before looking to the sky, "Thank you so much."
