"Yes!" Callie squeezed her eyes in annoyance at the shout that had just woken her up from her peaceful sleep. "Aly, get over here! I'm a genius!"
"What?" she heard Aly's sleepy voice somewhere in the distance. 'Go away and let me sleep!' Callie thought in aggravation. "Oh my God!" Aly squealed in delight. Callie let out a huff of frustration and turned her head in the direction of where the voices were coming from.
"Will you two just shut up! What's so important that you guys have to keep shouting when there are people sleeping?" she questioned irritably, glaring at her two friends staring at her with huge grins on their faces from the other side of the flap.
"If we ignore them, maybe they'll go away," came a sleepy Aiden's voice from beneath her. Her head whipped to find herself half way on top of Aiden's bare chest and with him gazing at her with lazy eyes. She went into panic mode, forgetting for a moment what had happened over night. "C'mere," he mumbled sleepily, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her down into him and giving her a kiss good morning. She squeaked in surprise and just lay there in shock for a moment before regaining her senses and realizing the situation she had just been caught in.
"Aw, they're so cute!" Aly cooed over Nate's shoulder at the scene before them.
"If you two don't disappear in the next five seconds, I promise you Nate won't be walking straight for a month," Callie threatened, thankful that her face was directed away from them so they wouldn't see the embarrassed flush in her cheeks. Two seconds later she heard the the flap zip back up and breathed a sigh of relief.
"You have such a way with words," Aiden complimented, followed by a big yawn.
"Why thank you," she said, laughing lightly. "I swear those two get on my last nerve sometime."
"Agreed."
"You're right there along with them," Callie said, turning to face him and playful sticking her tongue out at him. He looked at her in thought for a minute before quickly giving her an apologetic kiss and pulling back with a satisfied smile.
"Nope, didn't work," she told him, knowing the motive behind his action. He pouted for a moment before laughing and kissing her again. "We should probably get up," she decided after a little more meaningless bickering took place.
"I guess you're right," he agreed grudgingly, lifting both herself and himself from the ground before beginning to fold the blankets inside the tent. Callie decided to go put on a change of clothes and help the other two with breakfast before it was time to take down camp. By early afternoon their camp had been reduced to nothing but Callie's car and remnants from their fire pit. Nate had just finished packing the rest of their bags in the trunk before joining the other three at the edge of the lake to admire nature for what it's worth before heading back home.
"I think it's safe to say camping was a good idea," Nate offered, slinging an arm over Aly's shoulder. "We should consider doing it again in the future."
"That could be fun," Callie agreed.
"We could even take Kelsy and Mitchell," Aly suggested.
"Dream team!" Aiden commented, linking an arm around Callie's waist.
"Oh dear God," Callie mumbled, smiling and shaking her head. "Come on, let's head back."
"Shotgun!" Aiden shouted, racing to the car.
"Really?" Callie said, rolling her eyes at his behavior. She began to walk in the direction of the car and felt a nudge in her side. Looking over she found Nate wiggling his eyebrows at her. "What?" she asked, drawling out the word knowing that he was scheming in that crazy mind of his.
"Well, what do you have to say to me?" he asked confidently.
"You're an egotistical asshole who shouldn't meddle in other peoples business," she responded with a playful scowl that eventually turned into a genuine smile. "But thank you."
"You're welcome," he said. "Now don't mess this up; I'll be so disappointed if you do."
"Hey!" she exclaimed in defense. "Same goes for you!" she argued, eyeing him and the girl he was currently holding hands with.
"Oh, I don't plan on it," he said, lifting Aly bridal style into his arms and carrying the now giggling girl the rest of the way to the car. Callie got into the drivers seat and began their journey back home. She could definitely say this trip would be on the top of her list of best vacations. Everyone had such a great time, and things seemed to be working out they way they had all hoped for. Now she could only hope that things will remain like this in the future and nothing would change.
"Uhm, Callie?" Aiden said worriedly.
"Yeah?" she questioned, glancing over at him curiously.
"I kinda lost the directions to get us home," he explained nervously.
"Ow, hey, what the hell!" Aiden shouted, rubbing the back of his head where Callie's hand had met his skull. Some things will never change.
