chapter 2

I woke up to the sound of mom talking to Simon, we were parked outside a small grocery store. Simon was standing outside the door, with his hands in his pockets. " I'm so tired," I mumbled. It was getting dark, we'd had no dinner yet and my stomach was growling. I was hungry and grumpy. " okay, let's get the things we need from the grocery store before it closes. I don't want to miss dinner." " let's go," I said, opening my car door. Simon followed us into the store, we headed to the frozen foods isle. Simon grabbed a stack of frozen pizzas and threw them into the trolley. " it's so different here, all the fresh air, the mountains all the greenness, it's cool." "Yes, yes it is. Now let's grab some frozen dinners," she said, staring at the pizza.

I grimaced, "frozen dinners?" She pointed her thumb at Simon. " we need to keep him fed. Those are quick, easy and cheap." It was true he was always hungry and when he was hungry, he was grumpy. I opened the glass door and started loading different assortments of frozen meals into the trolley.

45 minutes later, the entire trolley was full. " that will be 240 dollars," said the cashier, chewing her gum. Mom handed her credit card over to the woman while the cashier appraised Simon as he bagged the grocery's. When he finished, she smiled. "Thanks, you didn't have to do that, you know. It is after all, my job." That's ok. I don't mind."

We walked back to the car, "Simon, can you take all the groceries in your car? We don't have enough room in ours." Mum said, as she began to load the groceries into Simon's car. "kinda looks as if i don't get a choice" he grumbled, opening the door and sitting down. Mum finished loading the groceries and slammed the boot shut. "well that's that done," she said, brushing her hands on her jeans.

"How much longer?" I asked staring at the long road ahead of us. "Well, I'd say not long now" she replied, pointing to a sign beside the road; You are now entering Blue Lake. I suddenly heard a loud siren, turning around, I saw a police car with flashing lights. "Shit, Alisson, was I speeding?" she said,  glancing at the car behind us. "I don't think so" I replied, glancing at Mums worried expression. As soon as we found a spot, we started to slow, finally coming to a stop. Mum rubbed her temples and rolled down the window.

The officer got out of the car and headed towards us, "hello madam, you new around here?" Mum turned and gave me a look, "yes we are, any reason you stopped us? Wait, I wasn't speeding was I? she asked, throwing a worried look at the officer in front of us."No ma'am, but you do have a broken taillight" he replied, gesturing towards the back of our car. "Oh, I had no idea! I'm not in trouble am I? she asked, staring innocently at the man. The officer gave a knowing smile, "Damn, what is it with this town and its stark white teeth?" I thought to myself. "No, your new and I wouldn't want to ruin your first day here by giving you a ticket" He replied, snapping me out of my thoughts. Mum gave a relieved smile, "thank you". "Don't worry about it, I'm sure a woman as pretty as you doesn't deserve to get a fine" I saw my mum's face turn a deep shade of red, "well, your not too bad looking yourself" she replied, twirling a finger in her hair.

I can't believe she is actually flirting! I mean come on, we only just got here! "Mum, come on! It's dark and I really wouldn't mind a shower before it gets too late" I said, poking her arm. She gave me a smirk, "well, we'd best be off, I hope we meet again." she replied as the officer backed away. Before we left, He passed mum a card, "Call me, the name is Dan" he said, giving mum a wink. As we got on the road i turned to mum and fake gagged. "that was disturbing" i said. As we drove along the road and the only response i got was a smirk... This was going to be interesting.I thought as we drove towards our new home.

im sorry i took so long to update, i was working on my other story; kidnapped by the vampire also known as stranger. i hope this update was ok.. anyway I'll try to update this more often. remember to comment, vote and share. see ya.
