He knew.
He knew that I stole a glance at him
over my glass of iced tea,
As he was sitting by the window
observing traffic.
Or
was he waiting for me?
"Were you...
waiting for me?"
A small inclination of his head.
My sudden outburst streamed out of my body
I'm using too much energy for this.
I feel faint again.
No food and too much energy used.
My fuel tank's run dry.
He breaks my fall, again.
Graceful. Like a dancer catches their partner
Mid dance.
Through the dimming haze around my mind
I hear his whisper
He's talking to me
Does he know I can still hear him.
Maybe not.
"I, Jason Itokazu,
swear upon the heavens
to protect you."
The heavens?
Is that where dreams come from?
My thoughts wonder and I feel myself
fall away from consciousness.
