Chapter 1- we're best friends now

Castiel:

Falling in love with the same gender was something Castiel never expected to happen to him. Especially not at the age of 5.

It was a hot, but for once not humid, day in Dallas, Texas and a young boy with striking lapis eyes and dark chocolate hair, that was messy as always, was sitting in the brown streaked grass in the front lawn of the family's off tint yellow, 2 story house. The blades of grass were tall enough to cover the sketchpad that Castiel was currently drawing a western scrub jay on. A shadow loomed over the sketch pad, but Castiel ignored it thinking it was just a tree or one of his family members. "Cool bird dude," a new voice said causing Jasper's head to snap up so fast it almost gave him whiplash. Okayyy...not one of his family members AND MOST DEFINITELY NOT A TREE.  There stood a boy with vibrant green eyes, spiky sand hair, and constellations of freckles matting his skin. "It's a western scrub jay," the blue eyed boy muttered, bad with social interaction."Wha?" the new kid asked with a confused frown, obviously not hearing him. "I said, it's a western scrub jay," Castiel repeated causing the green eyed boys smile to re-appear. "That's cool. I'm Dean! I'm six!" the bo-Dean exclaimed, sticking out his hand. Castiel hesitantly shook Dean's hand, "I'm Castiel. I'm five." Neither of the boys knew it yet but this day would mean a lot more to them in the future than it did at the moment... And if Castiel's heart fluttered a little bit when Dean's smile widened, well, no one had to know that but him.
