It was a bright sunny normal day and as usual I'd head to high school with my best friend Gabby. We've been friends since we were kids and we were always together. "school is so boringgggggggg!!" i whined as we walked down the our usual road in our town named silvershore, as a soft breeze flows through our hair which was very refreshing and a nice break from the hot blinding sun rays of summer despite school starting, it was still summer and today was the hottest day of 3824.
Gabby giggles cutely like one of those school girls and smiles at me "its only the first day of the year and your already complaining. Classic Ajax!" She says as she walks.
"Tsk shut up!" i said with a annoyed tone. Gabby and i exhanged our usual small talk, stuff about virtual reality, food, boys she liked, girls I like. Much like most best friends we trusted each other with basically anything even very personal stuff. Gabby personality on the other hand is very tomboyish along with her outfit, she usually wore sweats or jeans with one of her band shirts like 20 feet west. Her hair was always in a braid or ponytail, she liked to keep it simple yet sweet.
As we finally got to my house and saw my mom watching the news. "Welcome home Ajax!" She said as she looked over and noticed Gabby. "Oh hey Gabby, sorry i didn't know you were coming home with Ajax today." she said with a smile knowing already that its okay with her dad.
She giggles "It's okay mom" she smiled as she waved happily loving seeing my family members.
I looked over at Gabby with a slight frown because i knew why she called my mom well mom. When Gabby was younger, her mother died in a tragic fire at her work place. It forced her father to take care of him on his own which he did very well but because of work he never had time for her. Gabby looked at my mom like she was her mother figure and she loves her like one. That thought echoed in my head like a voice in a cave for a few minutes.
"Ajax, Gabby how was your first day of highschool?" She asked with concern like a normal mother would.
"It was boring" I said with a annoyed look.
"It was great!" Gabby said enthusiastly with a smirk. My mother was watching the news and the news reporter was of course talking about the absolute world war which has been going on for about 20 years.
It was called the Absolute World War because every country is participating and fighting to the best of their ability. We all gathered around to listen to the news reporter speak his usual truths and propaganda. "Fortunately we have way we could end the frightening war. Dr. Winchester will explain to us what he has created." he says as the camera switches from the news room to a lab of some sort.
"Thank you, as you already know my name is Doctor Nixon Winchester and i have created Nano technology which can enhance a normal human's speed, strength, brains, agility and endurance substantially. This works by the nano machine latching onto the blood cells and bonding with them making them stronger over all then it spreads to every blood cell in the human body and it spreads to muscles and certain human organs like the lungs." he says confidently
"Now are you sure this will work Doctor?" The news reporter asks.
"Yes we have tested it on both animals and several humans and they all showed the correct signs and behavior and i will be ready to present it tomorrow" he says in his confident tone again as the camera cuts back to the normal news room.
"Well there you have it, the invention that'll help end The absolute War, We'll update you more after the break" The news man gives a smile as the TV cuts to advertisements.
"This seems almost too good to be true." i said with tone of conern waiting for everyone's reply.
"Yeah!" they both said in unison. The rest of the day basically went like how it was supposed to. We ate dinner, watched movies and played video games. Gabby left which was always a sad sight to me and i had to go to bed. I layed down in my bed and closed my eyes imagining what the world would be without war and violence.
[Ajax's dream]
I walked into school and everything was brighter in a sense. Everyone was smiling and laughing while the daily news channel on the TV in the school's lobby basically said nothing negative. "I already know im dreaming but this is paradise to me" i laugh as i see Gabby aporoch me.
"What are you mumbling about silly." She gave a big bright smile as she broke like glass would, soon everything started shattering like the walls of the school and other people.
[normal setting]
I woke up panting and sighed "if only there wasn't any war....What would the world be like if there wasn't" i asked myself despite being so immature all the time i always thought what the worlf would be like without war and suffering. I began my morning routine like normal teenagers but instead of going to school, mom was taking Gabby and I to Doctor Winchester's presentation after all we were curious. We got in our normal car that was black and red. We started driving and picked up Gabby as her dad is waving from the stairs to her front door.
We drove to the event with curiosity and excitement in our mind, The war will finally end and everything will be okay. As we got there everything was just beginning and the mayor of our town just introduced Dr. Winchester but something was off as we all got out of the car. As the Doctor walked up to the stage his movements seemed not just off but robotic like he wasn't even human then six more marines got onto the stage walking in the same way as they got in a line.
The doctor walked up to the mic and said something that chilled me to the spine. (authors note : this is where the gore starts guys) "Evolve... Or die.... Make your choice." He said as the crowd of people looked around in confusion as i heard some people say what and huh.
The doctor gives the soldiers a nod as the all raise their guns and fire directly at the crowd of people not even sparing women and children. The silence that was once omnipresent was replaced with screams and gunfire. "GABBY, MOM LETS GO!" i shouted as the bodies around us started to increase. We ran to the car and got in quickly and started it as bullets get shot through the glass.
We all ducked as the glass shatters all over us then a person crawled up on the car, his arm blown off as his clothes were covered in his and everyone's blood. "P-please h-help...me-" He was interrupted by a sniper shot going through his head making his head explode into several pieces as his lifeless body falls to the ground. My mom floored it as the generic car makes a loud screech as it flies out of the parking lot. We were all traumatized by what we saw next. Bodies laying on the street and homes broken Into.
They were everywhere just killing innocent people no matter the age or gender. Out of know where a stray bullet hits our tire and my mom loses control of the car. It all happened so fast, the car hit a white two story house as the debris falls onto the front of the car. "MOM!!" Gabby and I yelled in unison then all we heard was silence at least from the front of the car anyway. We got out the car and ran into the woods which lead to out of the school as we sobbed from the sight that was implanted in our mind.
The school was all we knew where to go hopefully none of the "insane" as i liked to call them made it there. The run felt like for ours but the school was finally in sight and none of the insane were there. We rushed inside only to find students and teachers in the corners shaking. They all had the same idea as us. "What the hell was that Ajax! Those were our soldiers!" She started crying more as i hugged her tight which not only comforted her but i did for me too.
"It was obviously the Nano tech just think about it, It finally gets realised and this happens, its horrible but i have a plan". As i say that everyone raises their head in hopes that itll work.
