She was born in Santa Clara, California and her parents' names are John Castillo Soberano and Jacqulyn Elizabeth Hanley. Her father was a pure Filipino while her mother was an American.
Liza's parents separated when she was still young, and it was just recently when she met her mother again after seven years of not seeing her.
She was raised overseas until she moved to Manila, Philippines at the age of ten back in 2008 because of her parents' separation.
Little did she know that she was going to be scouted by a talent manager in the Philippines. One of her main struggles, however, was her fluency when it comes to speaking in Filipino.
She had zero knowledge in speaking the same language when she was scouted by a talent manager and she could only communicate in English.
The manager then told her to learn the language in order for her to become a successful star. She studied hard to learn the language for three years until she was able to make it to the entertainment industry.
