I took my time finding Oliver's mahogany office, and by the time I had knocked on his door, it was 8:20.

"Er, good morning. Your Highness." I greeted awkwardly.

"You are late." The King spoke through gritted teeth.

"As if I needed to be told. Did you require any specific equipment for our necromantic training, father? Scented candles, ancient biblical books, Tryllic calligraphy parchment scrolls, spell books, probably a fancy silk robe - ?"

"Shut up!" Oliver snapped. "This is a serious form of ability training - not a seance! It would only be downright sufficient if you could care enough to punctually present yourself in my office every morning, and perhaps keep your witty mouth shut throughout my class unless you are asked to speak."

"Yes sir." I replied.

"Now, I will begin my lecture by stating that 20% of our abilities appear naturally or by default; 75%  are ready, waiting inside us and need to be called onto the surface; and the remaining 5% is the critical fraction of talent we never know about - the things you can't perform impromptu or with total ease, the things that don't go perfect every time.

"You already know your 20%. You can see, hear and communicate with the dead. But, have you ever wondered what else you could do with this talent as your base? Perhaps read a dead person's mind. Control spirits at your will. Communicate with them mentally. Summon them at your own will. Make them visible to others. Make them audible to others. See a ghost that attempts in being invisible to all. Bring spirits back from the dead. The list is endless, Jasper Frost.

"And in this list, will you find the rest of your 80%. For the time being, let us focus just on the 75% of the talents that are waiting inside you, right beneath the surface. There are 2 ways to wake them up, and trust me, once you awaken a particular sleepy talent inside you, you will never have to wake them up again. Since then, they will always be inside you - ready to be used at any time.

"Now, coming to the ways to wake up the latent abilities inside you, there are 2 methods : the flow of adrenalin and emotions, and meditation and control. Your abilities appear with the usage of any one of these methods; now, it is up to you to decide which one suits your personality better. You can take advantage of your adrenalin surge or any strong emotion that shoots within you - be it anger, grief, guilt, regret, jealousy, happiness or excitement; when you experience the required amount of adrenalin and emotion, your hidden abilities will naturally shoot up to the surface.

"On the other hand, if you prefer to meditate, do yoga, calm your nerves and build a very controlled web around your interiors, then, as you learn to gain control of every single action that takes place in your body, you will gradually learn to control the income, outcome and release of your abilities. Do you have any doubts, as of now?"

"Er, no. Just, how do I know which method to apply in order to awaken my sleepy latent abilities?"

"Try both." Oliver replied with a duh look on his face. Clearing his throat, he continued "Now, to try that which you have never tried before, you need to master in 2 things: concentration and determination. Let us begin by trying to summon a ghost. Can you think up of one?"
