While walking down the streets of this unkind, uncaring city, I noticed I could only see eyes. Nothing else was visable. Eyes that dodge yours like you are an outcast, eyes that do not even acnolage your existance. People refer to eyes as the gateway to the soul, so when people tell me this city is friendly I just laugh because I know better. The fake smiles are not important, eyes are. Eyes must always be exposed, you can rarely hide them except for occasion in the hotter months under your sunglasses. Mouths can be hiden, can be emotionless, can mean nothing at all. Eyes show what a person is thinking.
So while walking down the streets of this unkind, uncaring city, I noticed I could only see eyes. From what I could see, and if i did not apply any previous knowledge, I would say I was walking past hundreds of unisex beings, draped in their long jackets, thick scarves, and furry hoods. Bundled up so that only their eyes were vissable. I suppose it may be because everyone is cold, or maybe because they are in a hurry, but zero eyecontact is made between me and the people I pas. I try to grab their attention with a stare, but their cold as ice eyes dodge mine as they shuffle on by. If I were to walk into a shop right now, I would see smiling people, but after knowing what I know, knowing that the second they step outside their personality will show, I can not force a smile back. Citys are dirty, they are mean, and everyone is in a hurry.
I may have to correct myself, I just made eye contact with a unisex being on the sidewalk. This person seemed so kind that i flashed a smile as I passed on by. I suppose he could not see it, for my scarf was in the way, but I am sure the sudden wrinkling of my eyes gave it away. The sparkle in his eyes sure did.
So while walking down the streets of this unkin, uncaring city, their has only been one person to make eye contact with me this winter, on the cold sidewalks of this treterous city. I wonder though, why wasnt he wearing that hat he had laying on the pavement infront of him?
Wonder.
