A Tale of Tease

You gave me a reason to smile again, a reason to be happy.
From being completely worthless, you made recognise my worth.
You made me laugh, made my face bright up like no one ever had done before.

You gave me hope that I would one day reach the end of this long dark tunnel, and see the light, see you.
I thought you were special, how you loved yourself.
They say vanity is never a good quality to own, but it was what made you you, it was what made me smile.

I felt the end of the tunnel coming nearer and nearer.

With no warning you took it all from me.
My happiness, my hope, my laughter.
All gone.
It was like a little kid being teased to get their lolly pop, and an inconsiderate human being comes and takes it away from the grips of their little hands.

You sent me back into the tunnel, however it was not like I was ever out of it.
You were deceiving.
You crossed paths with me at a time you knew I was in hell.
Just as you were helping me escape, you let go.

Now I'm here.
I should have seen this coming.
I could never be happy, I don't deserve to be.
But you were different, and I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear.
Then again it is you who should be apologising.
Saying sorry for leading stray dog to find warmth at a shelter, to only lead it elsewhere and leave.
No sorry.

I learnt my lesson, never trust a single soul, the devil once was an angel wearing a mask.
Never would I ever allow myself to fall for such crap.
Never again would I allow myself to be as naive as I was.
As I was, when you gave me a reason to smile again, a reason to be happy.
